THIS DOESN'T FEEL NICE

Today, I had lower lumbar back surgery. I'm in horrible pain, my kids are wedged up my butt even though my husband is home, and I've heard nothing from friends or family, not even a check-in to see how it went. FML

I have had a few surgeries myself. You have my sympathy, recovery is never easy or painless but after a while you should be better than you started… I assume your children are very young from your description. They are worried about Mom and that’s why they are so close. You need to speak to their Dad about getting the kids unwedged from you so you can get comfortably. The kids don’t mean to be a problem but they don’t know how to react to this. I suggest trying to explain in an age appropriate way that you love them, you will get back to being the same Mom they always depended on, and they need to let Dad take care of them right now. That won’t end it, but repeated often enough so that they can understand it, it will likely help… And it goes without saying that Dad is going to have to pitch in much more for the next month or two.

Hey, how did it go? Did you go to an orthopedist or a lumbarjack?
