Today, after I left a very abusive relationship a year ago, I decided I wanted to start dating again, since I'm in a much better place, and I really worked hard through therapy. I told my parents, who then told me that I'm too lazy and needy for a relationship. Progress doesn't matter I guess. FML

That's why I only talk to my parents about my relationships when it's been a year or more that I'm with the same person. Congratulations on leaving this abusive relationship, working hard, and feeling better. I wish you all the best.

Why would you discuss future relationships with your parents? You shouldn't let them know until you've been dating someone for a long time.
