He may have a point. Dysfunction and anger tends to gives people more motivation -- how else would Hitler have accomplished so much? Let the hatred flow through you, OP! That is considering you do not frown on kick-starting the next World War. Otherwise you should probably remain calm.

Some of my supervisors say things like "no friendships, no fun" but they're just kidding and can't even take themselves seriously saying it. I would say your boss sucks.
