leave ur 5 year old alone with someone's ashes? I know you're 12 year old was with u, but maybe he/she was listening to music or on msn or sometihng.. like why would they care to watch over a younger sibling lol
oh. my. god. that is horriable. don't tell your kids what the ashes were, that would scar them later in life.
Parenting for the loss. Since when do 12 year olds make good babysitters?
YDI for leaving your kids alone.
YDI for your terrible parenting skills. First, you should know better than to leave something as precious as the remains of your grandfather in the reach of your children. Second, you should not be leaving your twelve-year-old with your five-year-old, especially if the kid is as dense as to let the five-year-old play with the ashes.
Why do you all seem to think that a 12 year old's brain power runs on a hamster wheel? You all also assume that the OP just left the box on the floor. Maybe she did put the box high up on a shelf but her daughter used a chair to get it? Beleive it or not 12 AND 5 year olds are capable of thought. This only proves that adults really do forget what it's like to be a kid...
Oh my god . I cringe thinking about that . Its just so gross . You should have kept it out of reaach ..
I'm so sorry!! that's so gross aww :(

Common sense should have been used here: Keep out of reach of children.
That is so awful. Why the hell did you leave something that important where your five-year-old could get at it?? Why was she not informed that this was an absolutely hands-off item? Why was she beaming? There is so much wrong with this. Your poor, poor grandmother. :(
