Never assume

Today, I was working and a woman wanted to pay with a credit card. It already had a picture on the card so you don't have to ask for i.d., and just glancing at it. I asked, "Oh, is this your husband's card?" She then replied, "No, that's just me with glasses and short hair." FML

Was her name bychance Susan Boyle? Haha, I'm sorry, that was low. She's a good sport. Just hideous.

And that's why you never ever, make personal comments during small talk to customers. No matter how little they may seem.

Ya man, I'm with 21 ... there's a name on the thing, so that would probably rule out the whole male/female confusion

I agree with #20 :p Idk, I've done that before, just smile and hope the next few people didn't hear..

Ouch but YDI. Never make personal assumptions! If you wanna make conversation, then say "nice picture"...

Aw, that sucks. I hope she didn't get too angry. It's not like you meant to insult her.

#20 You're right, but then the proper question is "Is this your card?"

but she could have lied if it was stolen so your arguement is invalid
