Not sure why you got downvoted, regardless of how idiotic she sounds, the point of her statement was that she would be around you unless you became a cop. In other words, her love for you is conditional based on your job profession, and that's not how family should act. So I would've said what you suggested except thrown in "stupid"....she shouldn't have opened her mouth if she had no idea of what she was talking about! I hate stupid, rude people whether they're family or not.
