We have family with the last name Michael, and my partner's abusive and deadbeat dad's name is Franklin, and I've actually always liked the name Trevor, but I actually got to meet Steven Ogg while I was pregnant, and I told him I was going to name my son Trevor and he was so happy!
I don't see any big problem with using characters from TV shows, movies, and video games that you like as inspiration for names. Especially if you have a hard time thinking of good ones on your own.

I don't know who Trevor in GTA V is (not a GTA person really), but as long as it's not an embarrassingly terrible name, you have every right to name your child whatever you want, from wherever you derive the inspiration and not be hit on the head for it.
Who throws a shoe? Honestly! But seriously, Trevor isn't a bad name. Granted, it might seem strange to some, particularly of a different generation, to name your kid after a video game character, but it could be a lot worse.

I don't see the true problem. Trevor is a real name, after all. At least you didn't pick a name that's completely fictional. I love video games, but you can only pick so many from different characters.
