Today, on my way home from a Christmas party, the cab I was in was hit in the side. After making sure everyone was okay, the cab driver informed me that I'd still have to pay the cab fare, which he'd kept running. FML

he kept the fare running for the fifteen minutes I was standing there bent over in pain from having my ribs near broken, it cost me more than it would have to go home, I then had to pay for the hospital bill, all because he ran a red light.

I'd have called the cops... that doesn't seem legal... at all

I'd take his ass to court for my medical bills since he ran the red light. I'd also try to get my cab fare back at the same time.

That sucks. I know of some cab drivers who will do anything for some extra money.

Don't Sue, don't pay, don't take a cab again. Maybe walk or have a sober friend drive.

I'd say "**** you", throw him a 20, and then leave.

Reyo 2

That's when you say "That's OK, I plan on suing for 3 times whatever you charge me anyway."

I hope you didn't pay. Could also sue for psychological trama.

Why the **** does every American want to Sue! Just don't pay. No need to take his money because of an accident.

I think it's one of the few words in their vocabulary that they know when to use it.

Yeah, thumbs down me. Because thinking logically is against the nature of fml

3, why the **** would someone sue a cab driver for getting in an accident, especially if he wasn't even at fault. Please get the **** out of the U.S. if you can't stop perpetuating the stereotypes that we sue everybody. You are embarrassing all of the normal people in the country.

It is disappointing when stereotypes play themselves out.

7 because it's one of this few words they overuse it way to much…

well legally any passengers should get insurance info of the drivers involved so that if there are any medical problems related to accident, they can get covered- reasonable. suing really isn't necessary, just don't pay. if they give u trouble, call the owner of the taxi company, or if they own it then call whoever licenses them. I'd assume you'd need to pay what the fare should have been but not the time spent in the accident. ydi if u paid.

Stereotypes are there for a reason, like how black people can't swim. 70% if black people have little to no ability to swim. Stereotypes are very American

Grow up. stereotyping is for kids in middle and high school, I'd like to think we are all adults here. No, not every American goes around suing people. Most people do it for legitimate reasons. That being said, don't assume ALL Americans are sue happy just because of the few pathetic excuses of people you've seen or heard about.

Kayybyy this is fml. If you want a happy happy joy joy non stereotyping website I can give you the web address of panzy ass.com. However I think all mental pain and suffering lawsuits are pussy, lame excuses for us Americans to get money. Its a bunch of bullshit. Love you though with my heart and my penis, Logan

Epilepsy- Did I say I wanted a "happy happy" site? No I did not. I'm saying stereotypes are stupid and pointless. You can't make a judgement about someone without getting to know them. Like the quote "don't judge a book by it's cover." It shows how small minded and ignorant people are.

the cab driver was trying to rip him off.

Well, he'll probably need money to repair his cab. Plus, you could of distracted him and might be the cause of the accident.

screw that! If you actually paid him, then totally ydi!

Question: I could be wrong because I've only ridden in a cab maybe five times my entire life, but don't most meters charge for miles driven, not minutes? How would being in a accident add to your fare if the driver didn't go anywhere extra?

perdix 29

No, they have a way to charge for time, too.

When the cab is in park the meter starts timing I think.

actually that makes sense now, cause douchebags will tell the cabbie to "wait here"

u should only had to pay up to that point of the crash;

I was just about to say that. ^^ OP should's bust a Will Smith and hauled ass. BUT she could've been in shock/injured or some such...

If he was at fault, he is legally libable. sue him and the cab company
