Today, I tried to invite my grandma on my bio-dad's side, to my wedding and ask her for his address so that I can invite him too. Instead of congrats she replied with, "You are an ungrateful child" and went on to tell me about how much I abuse my "Father". He abandoned me and my brother at 14. FML

Never underestimate the power of humans to lie to themselves. You've run up against some whopper that grandma has been telling herself for decades and, unfortunately, you aren't going to change her world-view with something as tiny as the truth.

Today, I had a mild allergic reaction from eating pasta salad. I told my mom that I might be allergic to the parsley, since it was the only ingredient that I don't eat often. She made me eat a sprig of it to "make sure." Now my face is covered in hives. FML

Today, after I let my job know I needed time off for a friend's funeral a week ahead of time and they declined to approve it, telling me to call in sick, the day of the funeral arrived and I called in sick, only to come back to a write-up and threats of being fired for not getting it approved in advance. Today, I broke up with my boyfriend. It isn’t acrimonious, no-one cheated, but his life will apparently “improve immeasurably” now, while mine will basically crash. I’ve spent the past 5 years working on improving as a person for him, and I thought I’d succeeded. FML
