Today, my sister accused me of being selfish because I told her I couldn't make her dress and her bridesmaid dresses for her wedding in August. I work full time, I run a side business, and I'm doing a PhD, and she knows this. My mother is taking her side. FML

Stay firm, OP. Tell her that you love her and are excited for her wedding but there is no way you can make all those dresses. Maybe offer to go dress shopping with her one day, that way you can both bond over the experience.

Well, you ARE being selfish, but for pretty good reasons. Unless your job and side business are both making wedding dresses. In that case, you'd be a greedy c-word!

How are they being selfish for not dropping everything to make multiple dresses for their sister. They would have to quit their jobs to do all that work. Are you the OP'S sister? This comment would make sense if you did.
