Today, both of my grandparents died in a car accident. My Mom and Dad thought it would make me feel better to know they were not my real grandparents, because I'm adopted. FML

Today, I learned I was adopted and that my parents had died in a car accident when I was really young. My girlfriend was sitting next to me when I got the news, and several hours later broke up with me in a text stating, "I don't want to be with someone who doesn't have real parents." FML
Today, my mom told me that she had great news: we were going to meet my biological parents. I didn't know I was adopted. FML
Today, I learned that my father, who died when I was a child, was not in fact my father. This comes as my mom, who has been present and loving my whole life, passed away without providing any additional information. I'm a grown man and my family also had no idea. FML
Today, I overheard my parents arguing over who had to tell me that I'm adopted. FML
Today, it's my birthday. My grandmother died yesterday. We were close and she basically raised me. FML
Today, I found out that my dad and mom, who just passed away, were never married and that my siblings and I weren't actually his. Now there's the very real possibility that we could be taken away. I'll die if that happens. FML
Today, after mourning and making my girlfriend cancel her big birthday party, I found out my grandma didn't actually die. FML
Today, without telling me, my mom dropped me off at my grandmother's house, and drove off. Now I'm supposed to spend the next month with her. Guess she forgot my grandma died six weeks ago. FML
Today, my grandfather was counting all the grandchildren he had and saying how fortunate he was to have all of us. When I pointed out that he'd forgotten to count me, he turned and said, "You're adopted, you don't count as a real grandchild." FML
Today, my grandparents told me they couldn't make it to my college graduation, even with months in advance to plan, because they had their annual Mother's Day plans with friends. Plans they've had every year, and are further away. This was the only time I'll ever have a graduation ceremony. My grandpa is my last biological grandparent. FML

I'm pretty sure a lot of the YDIs on the ones that couldn't be anything but FYLs are trolls and/or smartasses. They just click it to be oh-so-bad.

People! Open your eyes and turn on your brains! Adoption IS NOT BAD! Okay, what if OP was NOT adopted? He would probably be dead in the streets, or raped and abused a thousand times. Think about it.

Nobody said it's a bad thing. It's just... Not a good thing to find out your parents have been lying to you all your life. Especially when you already have to handle the loss of your grandparents. Your generalization of people who give their kids up for adoption is just lovely. "Oh, I'm not ready for a kid, but accidently got pregnant, so I will abuse my kid a thousand times!"... "Oh, I just got raped, which caused me to get pregnant, and this means I will rape my kid, too!" ... "Oh, my birth control didn't work, but I don't want a kid yet, so this means I will let it starve on the streets!" I know this isn't what you were thinking, but please think your comments through before you post them.

Omg I cannot believe I just read this!!!!! Yes your parents were dealing with their own grief but does NOT excuse dropping a bomb on you like that!!! I'm so very sorry for the loss of your GRANDPARENTS, blood or not!!!
