It's a national organization that grades businesses on their standards, reliability, and customer satisfaction. It's a very reputable organization, and people take their grades on businesses very seriously. A negative report to the BBB can be very damaging to a business if the BBB determines it to be legitimate. However, the BBB doesn't give a **** about garage sales.

To everyone saying the BBB is reputable, don't you remember the trouble they got in for taking bribes for good ratings? Sounds pretty shady to me.

BBB is private. Selling positives AND getting caught at it leads to people mistrusting the BBB and trust is the only thing that they are about. Like UL and newspapers and any news agency.
