I’m sorry. I’ve had the same experience with my mother - EVERYTHING I do must have some ulterior motive or bad intention. I wasn’t born during an eclipse, but my family does like to point out that I was born on the shortest day of the year - or as I’m often told, “the darkest day.” I’m in my 50’s and have my own children who are now adults. THEY and their spouses and children are my real family. I moved about as far away was possible from my parents while staying in the country and my only contact now is short and polite phone calls on holidays and birthdays. It hurts to be rejected like that for no reason by the one person who you think should have unconditional love for you, but I’m sure you’ve realized that there’s nothing you can do. I tried for decades, always thinking I just needed to try harder and be better. Don’t waste your time and emotional resources. Make your own family, whether it’s a spouse and children or a group of friends - and the dogs!

Time to be evil for real and have your mother committed to a mental hospital.
