Two words: Peanut allergy. Also, yeah, you CAN be allergic to bug bites because the body reacts to the proteins in the bug's saliva. So EVERYONE is allergic to bug bites to some extent, OP just has a more severe reaction. Same thing with bug stings- not only does the toxin do damage on its own, the foreign proteins can trigger an allergic reaction.
Get some cheese cloth, cut it so that it's a bit bigger than the window is. Then have someone tape it so the cloth that is on the wall around the window is completely flat again the wall. You could do a couple of layers of cheese cloth under the tape to make sure bugs can't get in. Not 100% sure how well it will work, but it could be worth a shot.
