Today, at the store, I noticed a girl eyeing a chocolate bunny. Her mom refused to buy it, saying they didn't have enough money. She started crying, so I decided to make her day and offered to buy it for her. Her mom reacted by slapping me across the face and calling me a "pedo." FML

Op, here. I'm fifteen years old and am absolutely not a pedo. I am a boy and thought that I was doing something good for the girl. All of the comments about healthy eating habits are not true, the woman was buying a lot of candy, but wouldn't let the girl have the rabbit. Idk why, she reminded me of my little cousin and I decided to buy it for her. The mother did keep the rabbit, though, so I don't know why she lashed out at me :/

Why're complete douche bags becoming parents?!

Oh my god, some people don't know what being kind, and considerate is.

Maybe the mom was just telling a little white lie because she thought her daughter didn't need more candy right now? Still, she definitely shouldn't have slapped you and called you a pedo! You were just trying to do a nice thing and that's great cause this world needs more nice people... Go OP! Keep being nice!

115, He probably meant to say "because they(kids) cry, throw tantrutms and when their parents can't deal with them and you try to help, you get insulted/slapped". Makes sense - in this kind of perspective.

come on people, stop lieing to your kids. If you dont want to buy them stuff tell them the real reason, no need to lie, if you raised them well they wont throw a fit. Or just simply teach them that a no is a no. Op was just truly kind of heart, trying to help, what he thought was a poor mother.

If you're an adult male, you better just stay away from all little girls who aren't relatives cause this is a sick world we live in and people get the wrong idea

Unfortunately your logic is flawed. The majority of girls who are molested know their attackers; either relatives or close family friends.

I feel that if you were really a pedo you wouldn't offer to buy her candy in front of her mom. Some people can be complete morons. But although the accusation was far fetched maybe you shouldn't have offered to buy the child anything after the mother already said "no".

Well you can buy me a chocolate bunny. Promise my mom won't slap you.

Parents say no to the child for a reason, also, buy the chocolate and give it to the mom who then give to the child, if you give straight to the child you would be called pedo. They are taught not to receive or follow strangers after all.

well at least this mom being a bitch is better I read an fml once where someone saved a child from getting hit by a car and the mom who been talking on the phone the whole time didn't notice their kid was about to be road pizza at least this mom was watching her kid and not on the phone ignoring her

That was awfully kind. Too bad they let anyone become parentsc

While his heart was in the right place and the mother over reacted (don't get me started on women who think it's ok to slap at the slightest provocation), he violated a prime rule: unless a child is in immediate danger of being harmed, NEVER undermine a parent's parenting style. It was none of his business.
