I am a bit reluctant to add this… When I was a teen part of my job was to mow and take care of the mower. We always had gasoline on hand. Gasoline will remove oil. But it’s dangerously and explosively flammable! It’s also now a suspected carcinogen. And you sure as hell don’t want to put anything in a clothes dryer that has the smell of gasoline on it! (Clothes dryers are a potential ignition source.) There are other solvents for motor oil that are significantly less dangerous - such as mineral spirit based paint thinner or “Goof Off”. These are still flammable just less explosively flammable.
