Right there with you, OP. I could be telling my mother that the house is on fire and she wouldn't pay a shit's bit of attention but if my asshole, junkie brother walked in and started telling her some of his usual, inane nonsense, she'd push me out of the way to listen to his shit with rapt attention. Then she's suprised and angry with me that she had to hear something from someone else when, in fact, I had already told her this news item. She just wasn't listening because I was the one talking.
