Life is very long when you're lonely

Today, I noticed that I feel the loneliest when I'm with my family. I was raised in group homes for most of my childhood and I'm sure my mother doesn't want me, and she hasn't for years. My brothers used to disappear as kids and just do what they wanted, whereas I'd be home before curfew and I rarely acted out but still I'm unwanted. FML

sometimes family isn't who we are born in to, but who we meet along lifes way that feel like family. i have cut off most of my family due to their toxic actions and energies. it's been over 10 years and I've never felt freer

I second this. You can have chosen family - people who are far more than simply ‘friends’. They can be far closer than blood relations because you both have made a conscious choice to be family to one another.

You have to know it's not your fault. You deserve love from your mother, and I am sorry she is not providing that for you. I hope you have some good friends you can rely on, and even share family love with.
