Today, after a year of suspicion, I finally found out my sister is in a cult. My family's response? "It'll be good for her." FML

Most people that are in a cult just think of themselves as being a part of a close-knit group. They also may want to avoid telling family and friends because they don't want to deal with crying mothers and worried fathers. Not that that's the case for OP's sister...
