Today, I have severe back pain that is only relieved by lying flat on my bed. I also have acid reflux that is only prevented by sitting straight up. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Knackered
Today, I'm fit, but so exhausted from work that I hardly managed to even climb the stairs. Yet, as soon as I sit on the couch for longer than half an hour, my butt starts hurting. So I guess it’s either reading a book lying on my stomach, which makes my back hurt, or hanging upside down from the ceiling like a bat. FML
Do not disturb
Today, I have such chronic back pain that I can usually never get comfortable, but I found the perfect position to lie in bed, and was nearly 100% pain free. I felt so good. Someone knocked on the door, so I had to answer it. They'd got the wrong house number. I couldn’t find that perfect position again. FML
Pain in the ass
Today, I awoke to an excruciating pain in my back from sleeping in the same position all night. I can't wipe my own ass. I've already gone to shit twice. FML
Today, I ended up in the hospital due to a severe acid reflux attack. I knew I had acid reflux for years, but was never allowed to get it checked out. Why? My dad told me I was too young to have it and that I was making it up. I now have to see a specialist. FML
Not this again
Today, I woke up with my back super sore. I couldn’t get out of my bed without crying and great difficulty. The last time my chronic pain was like this it went on for three months and I could barely move. It was absolutely awful. FML
Today, I was suffering from acid reflux. I was told that drinking water laced with baking soda would help. Nope, all it did was create a huge belch that made me vomit all over myself. FML
I don't like to move it, move it
Today, I realized just how sedentary both my work and home lives are after I went to the doctor with a rash on my butt and he diagnosed it as bedsores from near constant sitting. FML
Today, I sneezed so hard that I threw my back out. Now my back is in agonizing pain, and I can barely walk. FML
Take the W
Today, I got back from a holiday. I've been suffering from debilitating muscle spasms in my back for over a year, causing migraines and immobility. After all the physical therapy, drugs, and tests, it seems it was caused simply by my mattress. A week of sleeping in the hotel bed completely alleviated it. FML
Mother of the year
Today, I'm sitting in agonizing pain following a scoliosis surgery. I have a bunch of painkillers that I need to suppress the incredible back pain, but looks like I can't take any, because my mom has hidden them from me because she thinks I need to be taken off them. I wish my doctor was here. FML

Sit up at an angle to partially relieve both! It's bound to work!

are you SURE it's acid reflux? are you SURE it's your back? Is it your upper back or lower? If upper back, I would strongly suggest you go see a doctor immediately. Could you be having a heart attack?

I'd tend to agree with you, but back pain that worsens if the back isn't kept still is probably actually back pain - if it was a heart attack, my guess would be that movement wouldn't affect the pain so much. But you're definitely right, diffuse pains in the chest/upper back area should always be checked out to rule out a cardiac cause.

1/4 teaspoon of baking soda in a glass of water, gulp it down. It won't fix your back, but it will definitely help the acid reflux.

I used to have really bad back pain too, what worked for me was laying on a heating pad and also doing physical therapy. one of the exercises they had me do was hugging my knees to my chest and holding it for a little bit. don't know anything about acid reflux. hope you feel better soon! and also, yes fyl : )

Having had that exact problem, I feel your pain. I would personally try taking an over the counter acid reducer, which should help a little. You can also try drinking milk, which should help too. For the back pain, I would try a heating pad, or one of those heated patches, or even icy hot. Hopefully you'll be able to find something that helps. Definitely sucks. Good luck.

Drink milk to get temporary relief from acid reflux. Then you will be able to lie down. Then get a massage done on your back as soon as you can. You'll feel better.
