Today, I had to explain to a woman I didn't know that my husband was killed overseas. She replied, "I know exactly how you feel, my dog died last month." FML

it's possible she said "Doug" instead of dog, and was actually referring to her husband. I've heard lots of elderly people talk about "my xxx died last year", etc. otherwise you should've just punched her. sorry for your loss.

That is AWEFUL I'm so sorry for your loss:( I never know what to say about death but I definitely wouldn't compare it to a loss of a pet no matter how much I loved my dog losing a husband isn't the same...

Sorry for your loss OP. I have no clue how you feel, but my best friend is in Iraq right now and I worry about him everyday! And these people saying YDI really need to get a heart!

Sorry for your loss OP. I hope you can fight threw this hard times. I say that even though it may feel like you're alone and that you think you want to be alone don't. It's good to surround your self with friends and family you know, people that can support you, and try to make you happy. I wish the best of luck OP.
