Today, I was waiting in line with my boyfriend behind me. I decided to hold his hand and rub his chest while we waited. Then I heard a female voice behind me that said, "Ma'am, please don't touch me." FML

Ma'am? I wonder how old you are OP.. I was taught that a ma'am (madam) is a more mature lady who is well respected and refined... Perhaps a subtle insult?

Ok, fair enough. I'm in Australia & calling a woman ma'am is used when showing respect to an elder.

Maybe OP went for the spoon-snuggle in line, forcing the woman into the big spoon position, rubbing the woman's chest with get back. Her boyfriend could have seen but thought she was just standing too close, not noticing her trying to hold her hands. Kind of understandable, assuming that's what happened.
