Today, my 19-year-old son told me his girlfriend is pregnant, and was diagnosed with an STD. He's sure that he's the father. He's also sure he doesn't have an STD, because he's a virgin. I had to give him the sex talk that his school never did, as well as explain to him that his girlfriend is a cheater. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Whaaaaat?
Today, my 18 year-old son learned that just because his girlfriend was on top doesn't mean gravity will prevent her from becoming pregnant. FML
Sex ed is broken
Today, I went with my son to a conference about sexual education at his high school. I guess it was all too late, because among the attendees I saw three girls from the same high school who were already pregnant. They aren't even 18. FML
Because of him
Today, I broke up with my boyfriend. I also found out I have an STD. I was clean before we dated. FML
Paternity test
Today, my girlfriend told her parents that she's pregnant. We have never even come close to having sex, but she told them I'm the father. Not only is my girlfriend cheating on me, but her father now wants me dead. FML
Wrap it up
Today, I found out that my boyfriend cheated on me by testing myself for STIs/STDs and got a positive result for chlamydia. FML
Bad grandparenting
Today, my youngest, the 17 year-old, told me she’s pregnant. That makes it official: despite all my warnings about safe sex, all three of my daughters got pregnant before the age of 18. FML
Today, I took my transfer student, who I am hosting for her year of study in America, to the doctor. It turns out that she is pregnant, and my teenage son is the father. FML
Today, I picked my 12-year-old daughter up from school after her first sexual education lecture. She burst into tears on the way home explaining her fears of being pregnant with her boyfriend's child. As if that doesn't sound bad enough, I've met her boyfriend before. He is imaginary. FML
Good news
Today, I told to my son that I'm pregnant. After I'd told him, he looked up and yelled, "Fuck this shit!" and walked out of the room. My son is nine years-old. FML
Today, when my doctor told me I had symptoms of an STD, I had to repeatedly try to convince her I'm a 28-year-old virgin. Even as I left she still didn't believe me. FML

And he thought he was the father how?

Why do parents expect the school to do everything for them? It's not their job to teach your child about sex so YDI

But abstinence only education is working so well!!

I don't understand a place where both the parents and schooling system are HOPING the other will teach the damn kids about sex! Then none of them does it and both of them complain about everyone pushing out babies or having a record breaking amount of STDs because they weren't taught! How about you BOTH do your ******* job, you both do the talk and sex ed, some of you will be lacking but the other will be able to fill the holes. Any kid with half a braincell should be able to sort though the info, some of it he'll be doubly informed about, well GOOD. I'm fed up with people who know absolutely nothing about their body, especially their reproductive systems.

I don't know if I should find it encouraging that in this day and age of online ****, looking up anything you want on wiki, and lack of stigma for young people to have pre-marital sex that your son is so innocent... or he's just scared and lying. I'm going with scared and lying. Time for more than a sex talk. Time for a visit to the doctor and a blood test to determine who the real father is if this girl wants to keep the baby. Sounds pretty tragic all the way around.

You totally deserve it. I'm the same age as the OPs son and I had the sex talk when I was eleven from my mother. She bought me a book on all the stuff an 11 year old needs to know and told me to read it. When she saw I wasn't going to, she sat down and read it with me. Then we had a day in school where we were also taught about that sort of thing, mostly periods. This lesson was repeated and improved upon next year. I swear I think I had better sexual education in primary school than in secondary. So OP no sympathy. Yes the school should have given some kind of talk but you should have given the first one. Also I've met people as stupid as OPs son. We finally had a sex talk in 6th year and one girl asked if smoking could be a form of contraception because she heard it reduced fertility. I just stared at her.

I don't believe it. There's no way I believe a 19 year old male has no idea what sex is. You'd have to have no connections to the outside world (but clearly you do) Get your son tested, because he's probably lying to you. YDI for not having the sex talk with your son and for believing his lies. Seriously? You believed that your 19 year old knows "nothing" about sex and is a virgin? Smh

Schools everywhere should be providing decent Sex Ed. BUT given that most the US only seem to teach abstinence, YDI for not knowing that the school had not covered it, and giving the kid the sex talk 5 years ago. Thankfully i never had to have that awkward moment with my parents because sex ed in my region starts in Primary School. We also have a pretty low rate of teenage pregnancy. Funny that.

Aww.. Poor kid the sex talk can be uncomfortable and to add having to explain someone they care about is a cheater is worse.. My 16 year old had the sex talk but one day he wanted to open up about his first sexual encounter with his boyfriend. I didn't freak out, because I expected he would do it with or without consent, and overall he is a good kid. So you know I had to explain why he might feel a little "funny" in the butt region, and so on. It was kinda he asked on the spot so I really had to think about my answers.

Oh ya because its the schools job to teach them about sex, typical parents today....

He is the father. He's Joseph, and the girl is Mary....? Whoops. Wrong couple. I suggest he keeps that virginity and lose the girl. Or wait and do a genetic test to see if he really is and cut the delusions. STDs are not to fool around with. My guy works in an HIV lab. In that setting he's pretty safe, but it is never a joke.

In all honesty it should be the parents' responsibility to talk to their kids about sex and not the school. So it sucks your son is so clueless but it's your fault.
