Today, my daughter-in-law taught my 4-year-old grandson to burst into tears and yell, "Am I not good enough for you?" whenever I ask her if she's going to have any more children. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Mommy's boy
Today, my awful future daughter-in-law went off on me and said that I'm just jealous that she's marrying my son and I'm not. Furious, I told my husband, expecting him to side with me, but all he said was, "Well… are you?" FML
#Childfree
Today, my mother-in-law asked me when my fiancé and I were going to start having children. When I told her we weren't planning on having any, she went on a tirade about how selfish and cold I am for denying her precious grandchildren. Now she hates me. FML
Happy Mother's Day
Today, I had my husband’s family over. Our adopted 4 year-old daughter drew a cute card and gave it to me saying, "Happy Mother’s Day mommy! I love you." My mother-in-law scoffed, "She’s infertile and not even your real mom, but ok." Now our daughter won’t stop asking all sorts of questions. FML
But now…
Today, my mother-in-law insisted we go to a baby clothing store. When I reminded her that I don’t want children, she sat on the floor, crying, kicking and screaming. She then said I was denying her grandchildren because I hate her. Well, I didn’t… FML
Today, my daughter apparently has had enough of my mother-in-law's favoritism and constant bashing of me by telling her, "Grandma, might I highly recommend death at this point?" She's 7. FML
Wise kid
Today, I had to give my four year-old daughter some tough love, which I hate doing. When she ran away crying, my son, her twin brother, looked at me and said, "You should be ashamed of yourself." FML
Ungrateful
Today, my three-year-old told me he hates me cause I’m mean because I wouldn’t give him another cupcake. Now he is calling his grandma his new mommy. FML
Little shit
Today, while at a family reunion, I jokingly asked my 18-year-old son, "When are you and your girlfriend going to give me a grandson?" He then retorted, "When are you going to die?" I was unable to answer at all. FML
Today, my 2-year-old daughter overheard my wife and I arguing and fixated on one particular insult my wife threw at me. Now my daughter won't stop saying "Daddy a numbnuts", always with a big smile on her face. FML
Not her fault nor mine
Today, my 4 year-old daughter got royally annoyed at my uncle who won't stop surprise tickling her by poking her waist. When he went for another, she punched him square on the nose, making him a laughing stock. Not accepting that he got owned, he started preaching about child discipline to me. FML

Poor child. Least a good book may come out of it.

omg, ppl relax... It's a natural question for any proud/excited family member to ask. Back off... & op, I hope u get what u want ;)

No, it's rude to push your daughter to have more children when she doesn't want to.

It's a natural question to ask once. Not often enough for someone to come up with and implement this kid's response.

Deviable, there is a difference between asking your kid if she's going to have more children versus pushing them to have more children. It's a completely normal (though annoying) question for parents and in-laws and siblings and friends and random strangers to ask.

Doc, if the daughter-in-law has heard this question enough to have trained her kid to respond to it, and the OP has noticed the response enough to figure out that the kid had been told what to do when she asks, obviously it's not just a curious question, it's pushing.

The use of the phrase "whenever I ask" indicates it's not just a friendly query. Asking once is annoying but understandable. Asking repeatedly is rude and pushy. Either way, OP, I feel a lot more sympathetic towards your d-i-l than I do for you. Laugh at the situation, apologise to your son and his wife, and let the matter be. If or when they have another kid, they'll let you know (if you haven't been cut out of their life by then).

Maybe the problem is your son, god knows that girl is good breeding stock.

I think it's time for her to show them why they call her the legendary bitch.

w/e #51... no one even knows the context in which it was asked.... maybe the daughter-in-law just knows how to dish it back. everyone's bitching out a grandma, smh

In any context, it's still pretty much a rude ass thing to keep asking someone over and over again. I'm sure you're going to have some "witty" response, but if you do, at least have some sort of point behind your argument and not just, "OMG SHE IS GRANDMA SHE NOES BETTAR." Just because she's a grandma doesn't mean she doesn't deserve to get bitched out. Old people are divided into two parts, there are the nice ones who are chill after everything an then there is OP, the crazy asshats.

Take this as a hint, OP. How many children your daughter-in-law has is none of your business.

Tell the kid the truth -- that he's too stupid, too ugly or male, and you're hoping for something better.

If you pressure her about it, you deserve it. If she want more children, then more children will be there.
