Today, after three weeks of putting it off, I decided to ask out the girl I've had a major crush on since third grade. When I told her, she smiled, but then quickly said, "But aren't you gay?" FML

Today, a girl I've liked for the longest time kept asking me to reveal my "deepest secret" in exchange for hers. Thinking this was flirting, I told her my secret was that I liked her. Her secret was that she was a "lesbian and just had to tell somebody." FML

I absolutely hate when people do this. With a ******* passion. Is it so hard to just go up to someone and say, "hey, I like you and think you're cute/nice/etc., would you want to go out with me sometime?" If they say no, they say no, but Christ, cut it with the stupid mind games. Sorry, rant over. Oh, and YDI.

35, I get that some people are too shy to just ask someone out. However, if they are too shy then they have to live with the fact that the person they like will most likely never be interested in them and that they probably won't be together, and they don't really have a right to complain about it since they haven't done anything about it. Plus, mind games never work so they shouldn't use those either. If someone is too shy to ask someone out then they should flirt a lot (as long as the other person seems responsive) and the other person may get the hint and ask them out. But you can't really complain about not being with someone if you have never tried to do anything about it. Hearing no is better than never knowing what could have been.

Even if this achieved your goal, and got her jealous, and you ended up together, she's going to remember those mind games. It could impact on her ability to trust you, which could end up having some pretty serious complications or even ruining the relationship.

I don't understand why guys think making girls jealous by dating OTHER girls, is going to make that girl want to date them. I had that crap done to me in high school, by a guy who liked me back, and it just pissed me off. It does not work; to this day, he's STILL asking me why I won't date him now as if he has no idea what he did was wrong and hurtful. Don't play mind games, dude. Like everybody else said, it'll just backfire and make you look a manipulative jerk.

Really op? You expect someone to go after you because you have someone else. That means you actually want a home wrecker. At best your plan would get her to never consider you again unless you make her think you are single again. At worst, you do get her and you are with a (censored) that has no problem ruining relationships. You should try to think things through.
