Today, it's been a week since I was dumped. I planned to stay at my apartment, cry, and eat chocolate in peace. My roommate decided to have loud sex with her boyfriend in the apartment. She refused to quiet down, saying, "My body, my rules." FML
I'm surprised more people aren't criticizing OP for wanting to stay in and eat chocolate all depressed after being dumped for a week. Normally I see those kinds of responses, followed by "get over it and go out and meet someone." O.o Still, OP, that's very inconsiderate of your roommate. Maybe you should get a loud vibrator or something and crank it up when she's trying to sleep. Or crank up a porno.
my body my rules? that means if I want to have sex dobt judge me. What it does not mean is I m allowed to have loud sex and be rude to my roomate about it. I wpuld have said something along the lines of " you dont singularly own the place, we share, I dont want to hear you doing the nasty, that has nothing to do with your body, it has to do with the face that its bothing other people"
"My body, my rules" has absolutely nothing to do with having loud sex just to throw it in your face. Your roommate needs to learn how to treat other people. I hope you had somewhere to go, like your parents house so you can eat chocolate and cry in peace. My heart goes out to you.
It's true that the roommate shouldn't have to tiptoe around the OP's situation, but they're hardly a victim... From what it sounds like, all that happened was the OP asked them to do was to keep it down. It wouldn't kill the roommate to have quiet sex rather than loud out of consideration for the heartbroken person in the next room. Common courtesy, you know? I didn't read anything about the OP wanting them to sit and comfort them.
Play music from children's shows really loud. Troll them until you feel better.

Unless she's banging your ex, what does her having sex have to do with you? Stop trying to use your problems to cockblock your roommate. That's some "if I can't be happy, no one can" crap.
Sorry, if I was paying to live somewhere I would want to be comfortable in my home. They are sharing the rent so a compromise should have been able to be reached. Since it is OPs apartment too, she has every right to ask to not have to hear that. The roommate needs to atop being such a selfish person. Nobody wants to hear their roommate having sex all the time. She needs to either quiet down or do it when OP is at work or something. Also, OP has since responded and it isn't just a recent thing. the roommate has a history of being inconsiderable on multiple accounts. (:

Screw that. If she didn't have an issue with it until she was dumped... that's some "misery loves company" crap.

Didn't know that OP elaborated on the situation. You're right. If it's been an ongoing issue, the roommate is definitely inconsiderate.
Have you just experienced an FML moment?
Feel like sharing it with the other FML users?

Just say "my body, my rules" back at her and stand in their room, or sit!

Why should she have to be quiet and comfort you all the time? Go see your friends, let her be. She shouldn't be the victim of your problems.

Then leave for the day, go to the movies or something! There are solutions to your dilemma.
