Today, I was having coffee with an old friend I hadn't seen since university. I asked about her husband; she replied, "He died" and walked off. I was confused, so I stood up and took off after her. She then reminded me that I was at his funeral, and then slapped me in the face. FML

Today, I was at a party and saw an old friend from college. I went up to her asking how she was and how her family was. She went on to tell me that her husband left her a month ago and started crying. I told her that he was an ass anyway and that she didn't need him. Turns out he died. FML

Today, I ran into an old friend. I asked her how she was doing, then asked, "And your mum?" Just as the words escaped my lips, I remembered her mum died a few years ago. Trying to save face, I messed up again and blurted, "She still in the same graveyard?" FML

Am I the only one that thinks the OP is not the one with the bad memory? Maybe she hadn't seen her friend since university, and her friend just mis-remembered her being at the funeral? Or, maybe her friend confused her with someone else?

I am torn because of my confusion....hoping to see a follow up. If you really hadn't seen her since University and she's mistaken...then FYL. If she is right and you had actually forgotten attending the funeral....which is mind boggling to me...then YDI and owe her a huge apology.

Ok, this definitely needs a follow up. I'm torn between YDI if you truly did forget her husband died especially after having gone to the funeral and FYL if she's mistaken and you didn't know.
