Today, I was having coffee with an old friend I hadn't seen since university. I asked about her husband; she replied, "He died" and walked off. I was confused, so I stood up and took off after her. She then reminded me that I was at his funeral, and then slapped me in the face. FML

Today, I was at a party and saw an old friend from college. I went up to her asking how she was and how her family was. She went on to tell me that her husband left her a month ago and started crying. I told her that he was an ass anyway and that she didn't need him. Turns out he died. FML

Today, I ran into an old friend. I asked her how she was doing, then asked, "And your mum?" Just as the words escaped my lips, I remembered her mum died a few years ago. Trying to save face, I messed up again and blurted, "She still in the same graveyard?" FML

I'm actually wondering if the friend mistook someone else at the funeral for OP, or imagined her there. She said that she hadn't seen the friend since university, so maybe the friend was wrong? I don't know, maybe OP's just a ********.

Wow guys calling OP a moron is a bit rude. I understand the loss of a loved one hurts, but we are all human and make mistakes with memory. The slap in the face was too far in my opinion.
