Today, I had a violent coughing fit while at the store, which caused a lady to think I was choking, grab me from behind and start doing the Heimlich maneuver incorrectly. She broke two of my ribs. FML

True, but the Hemmlich is done to get the person choking to cough. OP was already coughing so that lady should have never started the Hemmlich maneuver.

I know right! the bitch totally deserves it I mean come on who does she think she is going around trying to save peoples lives. -.-'... OP although this is unfortunate and I do feel sorry for you I hope you don't press charges, she was honestly just trying to help.

Firstly, if you were coughing everyone should know that you DO NOT NEED a heimlich! Second, a heimlich should NOT but may break ribs when done right. FYL

Obviously whoever did that was not trained in first aid, or at least not trained well (well duh if she did it incorrectly in the first place, right?) If you can cough, you can breathe. As if that isn't drilled into your head in CPR/First Aid class. Therefore the Heimlich Maneuver was unnecessary. Maybe you can press charges and make her pay your medical bills.

You might want to check your wallet too. Your ribs might not be the only thing that goes broke from her. Also by her breaking your ribs I bet you stopped coughing. You should thank her as she clearly went above and beyond to help you
