Today, I got a gift from my wife in the form of divorce papers. She waited till after New Year's so it wouldn't show up on her taxes for 2011. FML

Commitment
Today, my wife asked for a divorce. Apparently, me being forced to work on her birthday and our anniversary 3 years in a row is the absolute limit she’s willing to put up with. FML

It wouldn't show up on yours either. Give her what she wants because she probably thought really hard about it to even wait it out.

Well now you know you married a bitch ...

Screw her first and file as married filing separate :) That kills her deductions and credits. But you have to get it done ASAP.

BFD. People have done worse to each other. That refund will help pay for the divorce, so look at the bright side.

I'm just going to take a wild stab at this and guess they got married because

They loved each other at one time, or that silly bitch doesn't understand that daily actually means every day and got knocked up because she was too stupid to take get birth control.

Why is everyone calling her a bitch? You people don't have the slightest idea what's going in in their relationship. He could abuse her, he may drink or do drugs, he may have cheated, or he may be an asshole. Accusing her of being a bitch just because she was thinking logically is just plain idiotic.

People rarely ever think to look at both sides of the story. This is why everyone should read docbastard's comments you might learn a thing or two and think before posting.

I agree. I know two people that are getting a divorce. The wife says her husband is cheating on her (he's not the best looking guy so idk who'd date him) and he says she's too controlling. But what are you gonna do? They both agree to divorce and here we don't know the wife's reason for divorce, it could be anything. So please think before you type.

Exactly! I was looking for a comment like this because it is so very true. Every story has two sides and maybe they did try all the other options to fix their marriage already. Divorce typically is the last resort for many married couples who just can no longer deal with one another.

This seems too calculated for him to be abusive, if she was leaving him because he was abusive I imagine she would have left as soon as she was able to. Having the papers and being in a position but delaying seems more like the actions of someone who can afford to wait, I.e not someone experiencing abuse

Why is the person who serves the divorce papers always the bad guy? Is it possible the marriage was strained, fixes had been tried, and in the end one spouse was just plain unhappy and decided enough was enough? Doesn't make it any less of a shock for the other spouse, but doesn't make the divorcer evil, a bitch, a manipulative ****, cad, sob, etc.

Not only is she a bitch for divorcing you, but she loves her precious money so much that she's willing to toy with your heart for a while just to get a break on her taxes! Be glad you've seen the true colors of that money grubbing bitch, and that she's out of your life. FYL all the way man. Sorry.

EDIT: Actually, the doc has a point. We have tunnel vision of this relationship and don't know what's going on.
