Today, I found an injured rabbit by the side of the road. I was about to take it to the local vet, when my husband picked it up and casually snapped its neck. "No rabbit's worth my money" he said, forgetting that he's been a jobless moocher for over 3 years. Pass me the goddamn divorce papers. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Underwhelming
Today, I went to my boyfriend's house to meet his parents, and now they have a dead rabbit because I sat on it. FML
Today, I found out my dad ate my pet rabbit two years ago. He said he ran away. FML
Oh no…
Today, my dog proudly brought home a rabbit he'd killed. The same rabbit that belongs to my neighbor's daughter. FML
Traditional
Today, while I was at work, my dumbass husband gave his dead rabbit a Viking funeral by sending it down the river behind our house in a crate he set on fire. It got stuck on a tree, which caught on fire, along with the field and the warehouse next to the field. The police think he did it on purpose. FML
Poor little bunny
Today, after I warned my son repeatedly that if he wanted a rabbit he had to clean and feed it, I checked on it. It wasn’t just dead, it was dead and rotting in a pool of its own pee and faeces. I yelled at him, but he just shrugged and told me rabbits are boring and he forgot it was even there. FML
Today, my cat died. But, before he could bite the dust, he left a goodbye present on my bed: a decapitated baby rabbit. FML
Today, my rabbit died. He died a painful death from ingesting too much carpet. I now have no rabbit and a patchy carpet. FML
Alas…
Today, my dad and I were in the car when a rabbit scurried across the road, just missing us. My dad turned and said to me, "Well, it's good we didn't hit him. He gets to live another day." I then looked in the rear view mirror to see the rabbit running away from the cross traffic, only to be hit by the car behind us. FML
Today, I drove home on my birthday, and my mom said she'd meet me there. I was a little surprised to get home and find she wasn't there, but even more shocked to see my rabbit run over in my driveway. Turns out he'd gotten loose and my mom had run him over, panicked, and left. FML
Today, I walked outside to see my boyfriend standing on my porch, looking confused. He explained to me that he had attached a prom proposal note to his pet rabbit, and let it inside my house to find me. We went looking for said rabbit, and found my dog halfway through eating it. FML

No need for divorce papers. Just throw him into a sarlacc pit. World: improved.

The big difference is that he didn't do it out of mercy, but selfishness and with a clear lack of empathy. And if the vet couldn't take care of it they probably would've called a wildlife rehab place.

Sounds like the type of guy who would have drowned small animals as a child and let his sibling take the blame for it. In all seriousness he sounds like a loser. No sympathy and acting like he's entitled to decide what you do with your money? Dump him.

They're married. It's *their* money just as much as if she were staying home with kids and he were working.
Sora_McKain 36
45, no. Not every couple combines their finances JUST because they are married. If OPs hubby hasn't even been trying to find a job for three years, then he is no better than your average mooch. I certainly wouldn't say that OPs money is also his if he isn't even trying. To me, that's the same as trying to say that your teenage child's money (acquired from an actual job) is also your just because the gold happens to live in your house (like my parents tried).

#47 *child not gold.

#45, While I know what you're saying, and I do agree that married couples will have to share and compromise with finances, especially if they're on 1 income. However, in this instance the husband had very little say. Helping the rabbit was the OP's decision as the income used would be what SHE earns. For the husband to say "I don't want to waste MY money," is just wrong because it isn't actually his money that's going towards it, since he's been jobless for 3yrs. It's also wrong because he's fine killing an animal so it doesn't "waste money," but doesn't even realize that he's wasting money by being jobless and a moocher.

No one said they had kids. If he was staying home with the kids and actually taking care of them and the house I think calling him a "jobless moocher" would be extremely unfair.

Are you seriously kidding me? No, he walked up and put it out of its misery. Why would he be somebody to torture? What he did was humane, wether or not it's accepted by today's societal standards! This infuriates me that people can be as shallow as everybody (including your sorry a**) commenting on this FML, let alone the FML poster herself.
DoomedGemini 38
We have no way of knowing if the rabbit could've been saved or not. Unless you know, you cannot say he "put it out of its misery". Op was willing to take it to the vet and maybe even pay for the treatment, he just didn't want her to spend the money she worked for on something he didn't want her to.

No, if you notice the FML is from Texas. Here its common to put your dog out of its misery yourself or finish the job on something you don't think will make it after its had an injury. It's probably just what he was used to doing(I would probably do the same) and if she asked him why he wouldn't be used to having to explain why he did it and just said that it wasn't worth the money.

Now you snap HIS neck, cause no jobless moocher is worth YOUR money.

some of us have enough compassion and stubbornness to put animals out of their misery. Doesn't mean we are heartless, just means we know they are beyond saving.
SilverSet 16
I think it was more of the comment than the actual killing that's the real problem. At least I hope so.
Seabass_Chan 33
Except he didn't do it to be kind and compassionate, he did it because he didn't want the OP to spend their own money to try to save it. The rabbit could have just had an injured paw or something.
Weasely 11
The comment made it clear he didn't do it out of empathy, just his own selfishness. We don't even know what the injuries were.
ChiefKoala 30
Well, this may have been frustrating, because if the vet couldn't help it and it was not seriously injured they could have at least taken it to a rehab center (the vet could have), the guy didn't have to snap it's neck. But this wasn't solely the rabbit incident; this has been building, especially since he's been jobless for three years, and the snapping of the neck + the comment was the straw that broke the camel's back.

THANK YOU!!!!! Finally somebody that's actually in their right mind on this FML feed!!!!

You people are all getting mad at the husband for killing the rabbit, but your ancestors did the same thing to get you here. Being jobless for three years is kind of ****** though.
simply_meeeee 26
Okay but it's not the fact that he put the animal out of its misery, it's that he didn't want to spend the money. It wasn't even his money, it's his spouse's money. He also killed the rabbit without emotion or much thought
Seabass_Chan 33
Killing for survival vs. Murdering animals that might have been saved out of selfishness... Nope, I don't see the similarities.
janfleury 19
I think the rabbit was just what pushed it over the top. My bet is you have been thinking about divorce for a little while. Good luck OP.
pavvypower 1
Sounds like some a person with serious, serious mental problems. Divorce that. Restraining order that. Get far away from that.
simply_meeeee 26
Do all of humanity a favor and divorce that man
Seabass_Chan 33
To everyone that would say this is an overreaction on OP's part: 1. They might not be serious about the divorce papers and we're just angry enough to say it. Like most of the time when I say "drop dead" I don't actually want that person to die where they stand, it's just a way to express how pissed I am. 2. Perhaps this is just the end of the rope? Hubby sounds like he's done quite a bit to prove himself a terrible partner. No job, no compassion (for either animals or his spouse who might NOT have wanted to see that), sense of entitlement/control over money that's not his...
British_Shadow 13
I think the main problem isn't that the husband killed the rabbit callously , but the fact he said he wouldn't waste "his" money on saving it, when it's the wife who earns whilst he "mooches". I'd be pissed at that statement too.
