Today, I caught my son and my wife’s daughter “experimenting” with each other’s privates. They’re not blood related and they are teenagers, so it’s maybe not too bad, but they’ve been raised together since they were roughly about 5 years-old, so it’s still too weird to really understand. FML

You're being unfair. There's only so much a parent can do. They can tell their kid about contraception, the risks of sex, and the benefits of waiting until they turn blue in the face but if the kid really wants to have sex then they will find a way. I knew a girl whose parents introduced her to a woman who had an STD and to another woman who had a baby when she was 15 yet my friend still went and had sex (protected sex). At the end of the day, parents can't police their teenagers 24/7. Teenagers are capable of making decisions (albeit, stupid ones) and therefore the only people who can be blamed when a teen has sex, gets pregnant, or gets an STD is the teen him or herself.

I don't know about the law where OP is from, but where I live the age of consent is 16 (and I think that's quite a common age of consent). There is nothing wrong with 16 year olds having sex as long as they carefully lose protection, and are mature enough to understand what they're doing. I know that doesn't seem to be the case in this situation considering their chosen method of "protection" but please don't generalise all sexually active teens. I'm 16 and sexually active but I'm on the pill, and take it properly every day. And I have great parents. Not all teenagers are careless, funnily enough.

Consent age is 16 in my country too and our government provides free condoms at every government health intitution and at some schools...one can really not stop a teen from being sexually active, they can be really stubborn, the least an adult can do is assist them somehow.
