Today, we received a wedding invitation from a couple who are renting an apartment from us. They haven't paid rent for several months. My father is listed as the "principal sponsor." FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, three days before their rent was due, my fiancé's friends moved out of our basement without saying a word to us. On their way out, they took an envelope from my locked desk with $800 in it that was for our wedding in six months. FML
Bunch of cons
Today, after months of looking, my fiancé and I finally signed a lease. We are using my savings to pay for it. This apparently poses a "moral dilemma" for my in-laws, who think we should wait to be married. I'm paying for an apartment I'm not allowed to live in. FML
The main characters
Today, we gave my in-laws-to-be our wedding invitations. Their first reaction was to assume we needed money and told us they couldn't help pay for the wedding. Their second move was to book hair and make-up for themselves. Congratulations? FML
Today, I got an invitation in the mail for my dad's third wedding. My first name was misspelled on the envelope. FML
Today, I'm being evicted from my apartment for not paying rent. My father is the on-site landlord, meaning I now have to move my stuff downstairs into his place, and hear every day how I'm a failure. FML
Today, I found out that my fiancé's parents are refusing to pay for a honeymoon, because they "didn't have one, so neither will we", meaning they won't pay for a single thing for our wedding. FML
Piss off
Today, my horrible parents turned up to the restaurant I work at just to mess with me. Dad forgot his wallet, what a surprise, and asked me to pay the bill. I refused so my manager got involved. My dad got arrested, I got fired and might lose my lousy flat if I’m late on the rent. FML
Communication breakdown
Today, I got a notice in the mail saying I had been fired from my job. My dad's the boss, who I happen to live with. FML
Today, my roommate and I had to pay our first installment of rent. He's nowhere to be found. FML
Priorities
Today, my roommate and I received a non-payment notice from our landlord, over a dishonored check that was used to pay the rent. I give my roommate money for my share and she handles the checks. Apparently, her trip to Puerto Rico was more important than paying rent. FML

Perfect. Go to their wedding and steal all their gifts. Or while they are at the wedding, throw all their stuff out on the street.

maybe because he was letting them get away with not paying rent instead of kicking them out...they considered that "sponsoring"

Not to be a racist prick, but if they are from the Philippines, this isn't really a WTF - it sounds like a perfectly Philippine thing to do. #2 - 02/20/2009 at 1:40pm by culture clash Report abuse ---------------------------------------------------- yes. that's still kinda racist.

Hello, people, use some Google search skills. "The principal sponsors are expected to serve as the couple's second parents or counselors especially when the newlyweds' parents are no longer there to guide them. The couple’s "Ninong" and "Ninang" (godparent) serve as the official witnesses of the state to the couple’s union and as such, have to join in signing the marriage license. In the early days of the Church, their participation was seen as a testimony to the couple’s readiness for marriage." And apparently it IS a Phillipine tradition.

Get your money from them! Tell your father not to be an idiot next time.

Sucks, even so, I'd tell them I want the rent, but you know how filipino parents are so good luck with that.

Throw them out onto the street with their crappy invitation!
