Today, I told my family that I wanted to change my last name to my future wife's. We want to have the same last name, and we chose hers because she is an only child, while I have three brothers. Half of my family is laughing and calling me "pussy whipped" while the other half won't speak to me. FML

Everyone has the right to their own opinion. I dont have any brothers so my family wants me to either keep my maiden name or ask my husband to take mine so we can pass on the family name. But I like the idea of taking my husbands last name. Do what you want OP :) im sure your wife appreciates this.

I think that's really cool...it's non-traditional and honors her family...I've seen guys who hyphenate their names as well...trying to convince my boyfriend that would be a cool thing to do as well...best of luck with the marriage OP

he's extremly proud of himself to be able to tell his family that his future wife is important to him. Also taking the family name is the "pussy whipped" thing to do. the family is just mad cause their son has a brain and thinks for himself and cares about his future wifes bloodline.
