Today, and for the past 13 months, I've been living in the States. I've been called a Nazi, asked if we have electricity in Germany, and been made fun of the way I speak with my "German accent", the list goes on. I'm not even German, I'm Danish. FML

Laugh at their ignorance. Or agree with their Nazi joke and let them know they could be next.

I guess, when you moved to America, you did Nazi that coming.

That's America for you these days

Just because you're not German, doesn't mean any less of you :D

My dad is German, and my mom's parents are from the UK/America. I totally feel you. When I came back from Germany after living there for most of my life, I had people asking me the dumbest questions, like if I spoke "European" and if I had met the King and Queen of Europe. They thought that Germany, the UK, and France were all states in one big country. I also got a TON of that whole "Nazi" stick. Though one person called me a "Jewish Nazi"... No idea why. Anyway, if someone calls you a Nazi, just say "Oh yeah, you're totally right! I have a list of all the humans who are lesser and deserve to be wiped off the planet! And guess who's on the top!" Then smile, really nicely. Kidding, mostly. But I feel your pain. Sadly, many Americans are ignorant, self-absorbed people who barely look at the outside world. But there's also many kind, educated, smart people around- you just have to find them! Still, the second I'm old enough, I'm going to find some way to move to Canada. My gf is a Canadian citizen so maybe.... *shrugs* Anyway, best of luck to you OP! Chin up! Denmark is a wonderful place to be from! ^^

I just wanted to say that I'm sorry. Not all Americans are like that, it's just sad that the majority is. Why on earth did you leave Denmark?

why would you leave Denmark for the US? I mean I like the USA but I would'nt want to be there for more than 6 months.

Don't feel too bad, I'm Canadian and they think that it always snows here and that we live in igloos. The worst part is there are some Americans that can't even find Canada on a map. So how could they be expected to know where Denmark is or tell the difference between accents

That sucks! A lot of the people in the states are pretty ignorant. Like, I was living there for a year ( Back in Canada now) and I was called beaver lover, asked why I wasnt fat like they thought most Canadians were, and asked if Canada was one huge state in the US.
