Today, my girlfriend made me a chocolate cake to try and cheer me after my dog died. My dog died because my dad fed him chocolate. FML
Today, I was eating chocolate chip cookies around the house and saw a chocolate chip on the floor. Not wanting my dog to eat it, given that chocolate is poisonous for dogs, I swiped it up with my finger and put it to my mouth. It was then that I realized it was a stub of my dog's poop. FML
Today, I found out my mom recently stopped taking her medication. I came home to find she'd shot my dog because she thought he was possessed by the devil. FML
Today, I got grounded because I didn't go to my dog's birthday party. FML
Today, my dog is mad at me due to the fact that earlier in the day I ate 2 peanut butter cookies. Apparently, they were his dog treats. I had no idea. FML
Today, my mom complained that I never do anything nice for her, so while out shopping I bought her favorite chocolate bar. When I got home, she screamed at me because she’s on a diet. FML
Today, my mom told me she’d never forgive me for eating her birthday candy. I ate it in my sleep. FML
Today, my dog kept barking at the door, and I jokingly shouted, "Language!" My mom heard and grounded me for yelling at the dog. FML
Today, I found out that I'm not actually allergic to chocolate, when my mom freely admitted to me that she made it up when I was a child because she didn't want to share any cookies with me. FML
Today, my mom is pissed and grounded me when I didn’t show girlish, squealing enthusiasm when she went out and came home with a dog; a big dog. I hate dogs, there is no creature I despise more than dogs. I prefer spiders to dogs, and she knows this. FML

The only reason dogs cant have chocolate is because of the caffine. It makes smaller dogs have an increae in heart rate that is unhealthy. Large dogs have a natually slower heart rate so they can tolerate some chocolate from time to time.

#56 You are giving him too much credit. Although caffeine is toxic to dogs the reason chocolate can kill dogs is because it contains theobromine. Theobromine has a higher concentration in darker chocolates.

Lucky your dogs ok? What kind of dog is it ? All the dogs we've had are labs. They handle chocolate like no other. We have a brown lab now, a few years back, he snuck in the candy room, and ate 3 pounds of chocolate. Our earlier dog, also a lab, ate chocolate ice cream and the whatnot regularly. Idk if we're just lucky, or it doesn't bother bigger dogs.

It's not an allergy, you dumbass, you're not supposed to give dogs chocolate. Small doses won't produce any effect, and some dogs may show a higher tolerance. Please refrain from being a dumbfuck in the future.

I have never intentionally given my dog chocolate but on Easter the kids left down their large solid chocolate dove bunnies and the dog ate all four and was totally fine. But it isn't good for them and something you shouldn't do intentionally.

Chocolate is bad for both cats and dogs. Depending on the type of chocolate (semi sweet, dark, etc) depends on the severity of the reaction. It can cause illness and in some cases death. To the person above who intentionally fed their dog chocolate, go ahead and add some rat poison to your next meal you idiot and do us all a favor and rehome your poor dog with a family who actually cares about the well being of him/her!!

In small doses it's not as bad, but it could still hurt the dog's organ system. Unsweetened baker's chocolate is probably the worst type.

My aunt's dog has eaten chocolate plenty of times. They are total idiots for doing feeding it to her and I wish they'd stop. Small doses can still harm her, but she's always fine. It brings me to tears knowing that they're feeding it to her just because she WANTS to eat it. It doesn't matter, don't ******* harm your precious bundle of fur.
