Today, my boyfriend asked me if I wanted to go to the gym with him, and I responded that we could do another kind of workout upstairs. He quickly said he'd rather just go to the gym. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, I felt like going to the gym. I asked my girlfriend if she wanted to come with me. She screamed at me for supposedly implying that she's fat. No, I just wanted to go to the gym with someone. FML
Compromises
Today, I realized I agreed to go to the gym with my fiancé after being on my feet at work all day because he wants to get fit, but he will not help me remodel the house I’m working on so we can have a bigger place to live, because he doesn’t feel like it. I don’t want or need to go to the gym. FML
Today, I mentioned to my boyfriend that I want to start working out and get rid of my holiday weight. His response? "Okay, just don't join a gym. People will have to see you there." FML
Get on with it!
Today, I told my fiancée I was going to the gym. She gave me a dozen "quick, easy errands" that took me over three hours to finish. When I was done, I called her and said I was going to the gym now. She yelled, "You still haven't gone? You've been out for days! What have you been doing?" FML
Today, I hinted at getting it on towards my wife (it's been 2 weeks since we last did). She answered with "no I'm to tired", within 2 minutes she said, "I'm gonna go use the treadmill". She got all hot and sweaty for about 30 minutes, but it was with the treadmill. FML
Today, my boyfriend and I were planning how to spend the day together. When I suggested we start off with some fun in bed, then get some pizza and play his favorite video game, he sighed, "Can't we just go straight to gaming?" FML
Today, I asked my boyfriend if he wanted me to get him some take out. He responded with, "I think we should see other people. Uh, chicken please." FML
Body issues
Today, I tried to encourage my spouse to come with me and work out a bit, figuring it would help us both get be healthier and be something to do together. I got told she had no desire to get healthy or look attractive, and that I should find a "Fuck buddy" instead. What? FML
Can't win
Today, my boyfriend was tidying up around the room. I asked him if he'd like me to help, to which he responded, "No, I don't need any help," then added, "Wish you weren't so lazy." FML
Today, my boyfriend was over. I asked my dad how long until dinner was ready, his reply was, "Five minutes, so no, you can't go upstairs for a quickie". FML

I'm taking a boot camp class and I must say its actually a harder workout than sex.... not as fun though.

But camp workouts are pretty intense, and I went to Navy boot camp. Army and Marine boot camp PT is way harder. I remember one time my Chief was yelling at us during PT, "Terrorists don't care if you're tired!" And I thought to myself, "I joined the military during war time...WHAT HAVE I DONE???"

He's hinting that you're getting bigger. Take the hint and lose a few pounds to keep him attracted to you.

Maybe he didn't get the hint if he's a slow thinker as I am. And if he did understand what you meant, ask him why he would rather go to the gym for a workout than have a one with you.

You look awesome too!

Boyfriend: Want to go to the gym with me? OP: *smiles* I'd rather workout upstairs. Boyfriend: Workout of stairs? I hate that damned stair climber! OP: No, I mean workout in the bedroom... Boyfriend: What? We don't have a stair climber in the bedroom! OP: No! I mean in bed! Boyfriend: You mean like jumping on the bed? What kind of workout is that? OP: You're an idiot. Just go.

It seems to me that he was either giving a hint, or he had planned to go to the gym. Maybe he wanted to do something together that wasn't just sex. Maybe he didn't want to be turned down on a suggestion. I've heard going to the gym is a HUGE turn-on for men, because you're doing something real, and doing something healthy. And in my personal experience... my fiance is ALWAYS more turned on after I come home from the gym. Even though I'm a heavier woman. Besides... exercise actually helps get your libido going!

Maybe he didn't get what you mean

Haha, oh well I'm sure he didn't mean to insult you. Maybe he just really wanted to go to the gym today and was trying not to get distracted!

why so many thumbs down for the overweight? I understand that can hurt but it is clearly what is going on here. Asking a girl to go work out with us to get them to loose weight. We can't very well say "You've gotten a bit thick and I'm loosing physical attraction." Realize men and women think differently. Besides it is only fair that it goes both way and both parties (straight or gay) owe it to themselves and one another to take care themselves. Being overweight is a sign of an unhealthy life style and clearly OP's boyfriend doesn't want that for them. My wife has lost 45 lbs since we started working out and hiking together and I've lost 8% body fat. We both feel better and are happier, our relationship has even gotten better. This is the tactic I used and it didn't require me directly telling her. I've never seen any other tactic work. it is either that or he can leave.

I didn't read that at ALL here. It could be that he just wants to spend more time with her. It could be that she isn't overweight, just sedentary. My wife has asked me to go to the gym with her because I don't exercise enough even though I'm UNDERweight. Not only that, but being slightly overweight doesn't necessarily mean you're unhealthy, just like being normal weight doesn't mean you're healthy.

Very true Doc. What I'me saying is that being overweight is a sign of an unhealthy lifestyle. You of all people should know that a sedentary lifestyle is very unhealthy: not to mention the horrible back problems it can cause. Granted my comment is in no way an end all be all on the subject. I do know that this exact situation plays out very often. It is a very touchy subject to broach and this is a safer way to do so. How rude OP's boyfriend sounded could just be her inner noise and how she heard it. It may or may not have been how he said it. How many times have people said something to the opposite sex and had it decoded completely different from how it was meant? That is just speculation though.
