Today, it snowed in South Carolina for the first time in 10 years. It snowed eight whole inches! I was so excited, I yelled for my kids and ran outside to build a snowman. I ran out to the steps and slipped on ice. I woke up in the hospital with a bad concussion. The snow had all melted. FML

Today, I went snowboarding for the first time. I was so scared that I passed out. I was only on the kiddie hill. FML
Today, it was snowing. I slipped on the ice and fell in the middle of the road, dislocating my left shoulder and knee. As I was screaming in pain and trying to stand up, two boys on the pavement threw snowballs at me while everyone in the cars just drove around me. FML
Today, the first snow of the season fell. My husband celebrated by pelting me with snowballs, while I was on the toilet. FML
Today, as I left my house, the front door slammed shut behind me, causing an entire roof-length of snow to slide over the edge and land directly on my head. FML
Today, I walked in the snow and saw some kid slip. I laughed and felt good about myself. Then I fell. FML
Today, I jumped into a pile of snow which had built up against a wall. Turns out it wasn't snow but a pile of cement covered by an inch of snow. I now have a 3 inch cut along my leg and a sprained wrist from falling. FML
Today, I woke up to a quite frigid room, which wasn't out of the ordinary since my building's heat is broken. But I realized that the extra cold I was feeling was due to the snow piled up on my bed. It had snowed 20 inches last night. My mom had apparently opened my window. FML
Today, I got snowed in. At work. FML
Today, I was making a snowman with my little cousin. I was collecting snow just outside the house, when out of nowhere a snowball struck me in the back of the head and caused me to headbutt the wall. I woke up a short while later to a medic telling me I had a nasty concussion. Thanks, cousin. FML
Today, it snowed a lot and my friends and I went outside for a walk. Someone drove by and threw a snowball at me, hitting me square in the face. Surprised, I side-stepped only to end up losing balance and roll down a hill into a ditch full of prickly bushes. FML

To everyone who says: "That sucks that you missed the snow, blahblahblah..." Why doesn't the OP just drive up north in the winter if they want to play in snow? Snow gets old after decades of ice and wind.

It's not the same to go play in someone else's snow. It don't know why, but there's a certain charming aspect about seeing the mundanes of life covered in snow. Snow is captivating to those not used to it.

Agreed. I was born in Texas and then lived in Atlanta for eight years. The tiny amount of snow we got for a day or so in the winter if we were lucky was always special. It transforms everything.

Aww, OP, living in North Carolina, I understand how exciting it is to get snow for the first time in years. Too bad the state collectively groaned at the snow we got last night. The school-aged kids are still paying for the last one. Though, if it really was eight inches, that's not melting within one day. Our snow is almost completely gone now, but it was barely an inch. I feel like you're exaggerating somehow. :?

8 inches of snow can easily melt in a single day. If it can happen in Massachusetts (which I've seen), it can happen in a place that's (in general) warmer.

lol. if it makes you feel better, i almost went flying down the porch stairs. I forgot that when you compress snow, you get ice. Of course, it hasn't snowed and actually stuck here (in Charleston) in about 20 years. We've had flurries...but not true snow.
