Today, I was working at the Soup Kitchen handing out special christmas dinners to the homeless. At the end of the day I collected my things and went home. It was only then I discovered that my wallet, phone, pager and (for some reason) my glasses has been stolen. FML
Collection
Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, I was volunteering at a soup kitchen and was advised to leave my wallet and cell phone in my car so they wouldn’t be stolen. Someone broke into my car and stole them. FML
Today, I was entertaining people during an extra curricular school function in order to help "brighten people's spirits in their time of need." After it was all over, I found out that my phone had been stolen. FML
Today, the police called because someone had turned in my wallet that was stolen. I happily drove home only to find that my house had been robbed and ransacked. FML
Today, I went to the store to buy some groceries. Several hours later I realize that I can't find my wallet. After looking all over my house and then the store parking lot, I had my credit cards cancelled. On the drive home, I feel something under me. It was my wallet. FML
Should've stayed home, basically
Today, after getting booked off work for being sick, I go to work anyway. On the way home, I stop by a colleagues fairwell, being the paranoid type of guy I make sure my car is locked about 3-4 times and head in. Later I get home to find my laptop has been stolen from my boot with my medication. FML
Keep your eyes peeled
Today, I gave a short presentation at a neighborhood watch event to raise awareness about pickpocketing and to give tips on how to avoid becoming a victim of it. After I got back home, I realized my wallet was missing from my pocket. FML
Today, I came home to find that my house had been broken into. The items stolen were my PS3, cell phone, laptop, tablets, and for some reason my deodorant and pillowcases as well. FML
Bad day, huh?
Today, I was excited to start my new job. It was only when I was leaving after a long 8-hour day did I realize all of the personal documents I had I brought in for paperwork had been stolen. I'm now down a passport, social security card, and wallet. Great first day. FML
Today, after volunteering all day at the homeless shelter, I was mugged on my way to my car. FML
Today, after quite a long work day, I got home to find my house had been broken into. Everything but my sleeping boyfriend was gone. FML

this is exactly why i hate people. i don't care if you're homeless or not, i hate everyone. you take time out of your day to do something nice for someone and they spit right in your face. what is this fuckery?

My first thought, why leave all that stuff around a group of desperate people who don't HAVE those things. Obviously there's going to be >at least< one person who's gunna take it.

My friend was working at a Holiday event almost like a soup kitchen, and he left his cellphone in his jacket, and his jacket on a chair a few feet away from him.. Some guy took the cellphone out of his jacket, a bunch of people saw him, and all pointed him out when my friend was looking for his phone(no one stopped him or and only one person told my friend, even though a lot of people saw it happen). People just suck. With my friend it was a volunteer who took it, so don't think badly of the people who go to the soup kitchen: It could have been a volunteer who took it.

Yeah, when I volunteer, I leave as many valuables home as I can, and the rest get locked in my glove box, inside a car that is also locked with a security alarm set. I hate to say it, but YDI. Doesn't seem you thought this through.

Agree with #7; if you leave your stuff around people who don't have anything, obviously there's a good chance that they'll be stolen. Also, a pager? Really? Unless you're a doctor or something, nobody uses those! outdated technology much? Haha

I have to say that I agree. A part of me wants to say FYL because your stuff got stolen, and that always sucks. However, you did know that you were going to be working at a place that serves to a very high risk population, so there is definitely a huge YDI as well. Maybe you should have kept your stuff in your car, at home, or on you.

That's seriously jumping to conclusions. Could be true, but it's not like a bunch of people each took something. It was one butthole.

Ah, I'm torn between YDI and FYL... never, never, never, never bring your electronics or wallet into a shelter or soup kitchen (dammit!). If you drove yourself, either lock up or carefully carry only your license, keys, and any money you need to get home. I know its Christmas, and you want to expect the best from people, but the holidays also bring out the worst desperation in people. That's why this week is one of the highest for car break-ins and robberies.

I never said I was the better human being : )...and I think you're taking me just a little too seriously...a lot more seriously than I took myself as I wrote it! I'm neither obese nor a highschooler, but my face isn't pimple-free. If it'd make you feel better you can make fun of me for it. I hope your Christmas was great!

I'm sorry you had to learn the hard way that people can't always be trusted, even when you are doing something good for them.
