Today, I told the man I've been in love with for 3 years, who also happens to be my boss, how I felt. He responds by filing sexual harassment charges against me. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, after many years of being single, I finally worked up the courage to ask my coworker out. He said no and gave me "fair warning" that he's going to report me for sexual harassment. FML
Company ink
Today, my boyfriend, who is also my coworker, broke up with me. I agreed to stay professional and civil with him during our work hours. However, he decided to report me for "sexual harassment" and "stalking." He showed them the "evidence." I was fired. FML
Snitch
Today, I confronted my coworker, who I had a crush on, for lying to me. He’d told me he was gay when I asked him out. He’s now dating another coworker of mine who’s a woman. He took this up with my boss, and I was written up for “creating a hostile work environment.” FML
Unfair
Today, after having finally summoned the nerve to report a guy at my workplace who has been sexually harassing me for months, I got a phone call from my boss. He said that there was nothing he could do about it, because the guy "wouldn't confess." FML
Today, after working at my job for months, I quit. Why? My boss tried to convince me that we are in a secret relationship, after he told me he loved me. FML
Today, my boyfriend hacked my facebook account and set my status to say that I was in love with my boss. Seeing the post, my boss called me into his office, and told me he loved me too... FML
Not a good look
Today, my coworker and I agreed to come clean and tell our fellow employees that we have been secretly dating for a while. Before we could, I received a promotion. I'm now his boss. FML
Today, I went to my company's HR manager to ask what the procedure was to file a sexual harassment complaint since my boss exposed himself to me. His response was that the procedure is to "get over it." And he went back to reading. FML
Today, my boss sent me to a meeting with a client I've never met to do some damage control and renegotiate his contract. For two hours, he alternated between threatening to sue us, and making vulgar comments about raping me in his office. FML
Today, a woman called my work and accused me of having an affair with her husband, my coworker, demanding that my boss discipline me. I don't know her, I barely know her husband, and I haven't had sex in months. FML

It's those words "in love with..." that did it. You don't tell random people you've been "in love with them" for three years. That's ******* creepy. Now, if you had said something NORMAL, like, "I'd like to go out for coffee sometime", you probably wouldn't be in this position. Weirdo.

why would you tell your boss youre in love with him? unless you knew he felt the same and didnt care about office policies and even then id be weary...

Now why would you go and do a silly thing like that?

I'd make some remark about love but I'm too tired of saying the same thing over again. I must agree you should have been more subtle about it, though, or at least used a weaker term than "love," or at least shouldn't have mentioned the three years. However, I must say FYL. What kind of reaction is that? He should have just fired you if he thought it was creepy, you didn't do shit to him... What an ass. At least you know now.

I tell everyone at work that i love them. but they know how i am and accept that kind of behavior from me :-D...it's been a running joke that i've been trying to get fired for sexual harassment! yay for creepy people!

You poor thing! I hope nothing happens with the charges. At least you finally let it out after three years, now you can move on. =)

Ehhhhhh FYL for the charges, because that's just excessive. But YDI for not getting over it and avoiding the whole mess.

I guess he's married or something? or your relationship outside the office was meant to be separate from what goes on inside the office. Someone overheard? or was otherwise alerted, (or at risk of being alerted). OR, he's afraid of commitment. Personally, I suspect the first, or that you actually weren't sleeping with him, as that's kinda' like 99% of the point here. You know.. "He got mad at me (for killing his dog)." Otherwise I'd say, welcome to the world that single men in the workplace live in every day. You can't indicate any interest in the opposite sex at all if you're male, no matter how respectful or polite the approach is... not without taking the huge harrassment risk, balanced against the hope that whomever it is you wanna' get closer to, finds you attractive, otherwise yer screwed.

Um, I have been reading the comments; and so far, I haven't seen anybody side with her in the "feminist" way you're describing. I understand your concern, but don't overreact when nothing is happening.

I have seen none of this feminism you speak about. Nothing I've read leads me to believe that all women are siding with her. Actually, quite the contrary. So far half the comments I've read were calling the OP a desperate stalker. But let's not pretend that it doesn't go both ways, either. As in people thinking that guys sleeping around = THE COOL MAN, whereas girls sleeping around = ****. If the guy was indeed married while they were shagging, I'll definitely agree that the OP is an idiot and a homewrecker - in my opinion, the homewrecker is just as horrible a person as the cheater. However, nothing she has yet said states this, so I'm not going to jump to conclusions.

Is he married?

If the OP thinks she is in the weaker position here, she needs to get a better lawyer pronto. A boss who has been banging a subordinate is on very thin ice. If the fact that a confession of love triggers the breakup, the immediate question to pose to the jury is what did he think the reason you put out was? That makes it very hard to contest any evidence you could show that there would have been negative consequences to your job if you had stopped at some earlier point in time. Then just find a psych to say that due to the need to deal with the ongoing humiliation, you coped by developing affection. Then collect the settlement and off you go to an island resort.
