Today, I spent three hours painstakingly installing and configuring some parental control software on my 11-year-old son's laptop after I caught him watching porn. Barely an hour after returning the laptop, I caught him watching yet more porn on it. FML
Collection
Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Dad, no, enough!
Today, I had to download a parental block so my dad would stop watching porn on my laptop. FML
Keep out
Today, I had to create a new password for my computer. I had to do it to stop my father from watching porn on my computer. FML
Today, I borrowed my 23-year-old son's laptop. The sticky keyboard gave me a good idea of his browsing history. FML
Today, my son shaved his eyebrows. Two days ago, I caught my 10-year-old daughter watching porn. I'm totally winning at parenting. FML
Today, I finished installing remote access CCTV cameras around my house due to the high rate of burglaries around my neighborhood. I turn it on to see my teenage son rubbing one out on the couch. FML
Now watching
Today, I came home, turned on my laptop, and turned the TV on mute so I could check my email. My mom came home an hour later, took a look at me on the couch, then the TV, and asked what on earth I was watching. I looked up from my laptop and realized it was porn. FML
Today, I was having computer problems, so I let my friend have remote access to fix them. We were video-chatting on Skype at the time, and so he thought it'd be hilarious to load hardcore porn in my browser the moment he saw my mom enter the room from behind me. I'm now grounded. FML
Today, I was babysitting my friend's 12-year-old son while his dad was having an emergency procedure at the hospital. I walked into the den to see if he wanted to go out to dinner, only to find him watching Pornhub on my iPad. FML
Gooner
Today, I had to teach my son to use private browsing because his porn keeps appearing in the search history. It worked, it’s no longer in the history, but he has added his favourite videos as tabs on the favourites bar. Either he’s a bigger idiot than I thought or he’s doing it on purpose. FML
Today, I woke up to my wife yelling at my 11-year-old because she found porn on the laptop. Now I have to come clean and tell her it was me so I can get him off the hook. FML

Is it really necessary for an 11 year old to have his own personal laptop? And OP, unless he bought it himself, you have rights to take it away

#1, there are many things that could be done to stop him. Snap his computer in half. Turn off the Internet router. Stab him, light him on fire, and dump his body behind McDonalds. Or simply just take the computer away.

I think you should have a talk with him about **** rather than just blocking it. **** can really **** you up if you're not careful (especially at that age) but it's also part of growing up. Good luck, OP.

An 11 year old shouldn't even have a laptop. He should be outside playing or hanging with his friends

Things have changed. There is no need to tell a child exactly what to do. A parent's duty is to protect their child and raise them to be good. Not tell them where to play. A child is a person too. Not a dog.

A child is a person brought into the world by two people who need to raise it right. Treating an 11year old like an adult is NOT a good idea. In 7 more years this kid can get all indignant when his parents try to control him because he'll be of legal age. At 11 there's still a lot he needs to learn about life, and one way patents teach that is by NOT letting their entitled little brats walk all over them. Eleven year olds are not entitled to have a computer or to be able to watch ****. They haven't even really hit puberty yet, he can wait a few years to watch gross objectification of women by men with greater than average size penises. Until then, OP, sit your son down and talk to him about sex. Tell it's what committed couples do together to show their love for each other. Tell him it should not just be about sexual gratification for the obvious reasons (risking pregnancy or STDs) and he'll grow up with a healthier view on sex than **** will provide for him. **** never shows the outcome of just giving it up to anyone (unplanned pregnancies, having to drop out of school and get a job, undergoing costly treatments for STDs) so talk with him about it.

What the hell's wrong with you? At eleven he's starting puberty, thus discovering his body it's totally normal.

Time is going to freeze for all of you. The new generations won't listen to the same music, watch the same shows and movies, or do things at the same pace as you. If you didn't get a cell phone, an mp3 player, or a laptop until you were much older, that doesn't mean kids and young teens nowadays shouldn't be able to have them. If you feel that strongly about it, send your kids to a Waldorf school. Otherwise, stop whining about how you didn't get this and didn't get that. Technology is more advanced now and is available to more people. Deal with it. And while kids do need guidance and restrictions, don't tell them what they should and shouldn't do for entertainment. If they want to play a video game or something, its ridiculous to say they should be outside playing tag or whatever it is you used to do at their age. As long as they're not hurting anyone, people should go so hard on kids nowadays. Times have changed. Don't be that old person sitting on their porch yelling at everyone. Go with the flow.

I started watching **** when I was that age to. My parents did the same thing, but I knew how to unlock parental controls. so just let it happen, but if it really bothers you just take it away.

11 years old with a laptop. Well there's your problem. YDI

I don't get why you make such a fuss about it. It's perfectly normal to discover your body and if he's doing that through watching ****, so be it. I did too.

Maybe it's just me, but an 11 year old is still a child. **** is not how an 11 year old should discover himself. Sex was the furthest thing from my mind when I was 11, and it seems like they are having sex the younger they are.

Everyone is different. Ever thought of that?

Dear judgmental asshole: Jurt because you find pornography deplorable does NOT mean that you should go around insulting people's preferences. As to you saying that those of us on the computer need to go out and get lives I have 2 things to say. 1. You had to use a computer or other internet capable device to make your post, thus you are a hypocrite. 2. Some of us suffer from an invisible yet severely crippling disability known as Social Anxiety which makes it painfully difficult to go out into the real world and socialize. Next time you have a problem with something, simply state your mind, there is no reason to be insulting.

This was meant to be in reply to 97, for some reason it didn't reply right
