Today, I got the car of my dreams. My daughter also learned how to write her name. Now I have "LAUREN" across the side of my car. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, I just bought a car with all of my own money. Then, when I brought it home my dad informed me that my mom will be driving it to work every day. FML
Baby you can't drive your car
Today, my friend got her first car. I bought mine three weeks ago and haven't started making payments. She came straight from the dealership to pick me up. She backed into my car. FML
Today, I received my new car-seat covers. I wrote my car off yesterday. FML
Sick ride, dude
Today, my parents said that they bought me a car. I had been begging for one for a year and they always said that I would have to pay for it myself. I got really excited and went to the garage to see my new ride. It was a Hot Wheels car with a note saying, "Save your money". FML
Today, I got my new license plate, which is the story of my life. FML
Today, my teenage daughter got her driver’s license. Less than an hour later she wrecked my wife’s new minivan. FML
Today, my daughter decided to draw me a heart for my birthday. Unfortunately, she drew it on the side of my car. With a rock. FML
Today, it was my 16th birthday. My surprise was a new car, that is now in the side of the garage because my mom lost control while driving it around front. FML
And then.....
Today, I bought my very first car that I spent years saving for. A few hours after I signed all the papers, I let my boyfriend go for a test drive. He totaled it. FML
Today, I drove home in my brand new car, hoping to surprise my girlfriend. She came out the house laughing, saying how funny it was, and how I look like a "twollop" in it. Then in all seriousness, she asked me when I was getting my "actual car" back from the garage. FML

Sell the daughter and get a new car

I'm confused as to how the only way to not be a bad parent is to sit in front of the child and stare at it like a ghoul until it's 8 years old.

Oh come on, why is it that every time there's a FML about kids, all the perfect parents suddenly come here and say "YDI, you should have watched your kid, you're a bad parent, let's call social services etc. etc." ?? It's a CHILD, for God's sake! All children, no matter how well you supervise them, do stupid and funny things like this one. That's what makes children adorable. If you keep your kids tied up in a leash and don't let them do absolutely anything, they'll grow into retards. Besides, if that kid knew how to write, it means she's about 5 years old, maybe even older. At that age, a kid doesn't need constant supervision like a 2 years old. OP, sorry for your car. But at least, when your daughter grows up, you'll have funny things to remember at family reunions :)

thank you I was thinking the same thing, just because your kid does something bad does not mean they arnt supervised enough it means they are kids and parents only have two eyes and two hands and a million things to do. Even if kids are younger but there are more of them at least on of them gets into something while the parent is tending to the other. Hell just last week my two year old made scrambled eggs on the floor while I was putting the one year old down for a nap.

I don't have an issue with lettin the kid play without watching them all the time. I'm just thinking that playing in the driveway outside while unsupervised is a little, um, not good. if it was a garage then that's alright I guess. you can't do much about that once they figure out those dang door knobs!! rofl

If you really were a good parent, your dream car would have your child's name emblazoned on it prominently. YDI for not getting a personalized plate that says "LAUREN!" My mom just got a new RAV4 and is proud that I engraved my name on the hood.

Don't you now wish you gave her a shorter name like- Bo? or watched her better?

When I was a kid, tow 6-year-old neighbours carved lines into my dad's car with a stone from the garden and finished it off with my brother's name to try to pin the blame on him (he was only 3 though, he couldn't even write his own name yet). At least your kid presumably didn't do it out of spite. You can get it fixed.

use some rubbing alcohol on it and it'll come off easily

YDI for naming her Lauren... in all honesty though, this could be a great opportunity for you to advertise her.
