Today, I asked out the man of my dreams. He told me he'd have to ask his dad if it was OK. I thought he was just kidding, until he pulled out his phone and called his dad. After a few minutes of "Come on, Dad" and "But why?" he hung up and said his dad wouldn't let him. He's 22. FML

If he faked the call, then he's not worth it. Not having enough guts, tact and respect for the other person to be honest with them are major, glaring flaws If he was seriously talking to his father, then he's still not worth it. If he doesn't have the confidence and self-esteem to make decisions like that for himself at 22, he's got some serious self-worth/reliance issues. Overall conclusion: he's not worth it.

Either he's an ass or a weird Daddy's boy, in either case, he isn't the man of your dreams.

wow that sucks. sorry OP

Was it really his dad or was he trying to let you down easily?

I would think he should be able to make his own discussions and the father he should be asking should be yours...

Wait... What?

That's if he wants to ask to marry her, not if she asks him on a first date :/

Well now, that was interesting. What happened to the days when a person could respond with a simple yes or no? Now it's all about making up some elaborate lie instead of being honest. You dodged a bullet, OP. This 'man' is too pathetic to waste any more time on.

What a wuss.
