Today, at the bank, my 8-year-old son decided to pull out realistic looking toy gun, and scream "FREEZE! Give me all your money!" The dim-witted bank teller pressed the silent alarm, and I was nearly arrested. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
In on it
Today, my 17-year-old son attempted to rob the bank I work at while I was off shift. FML
Today, as I walked into the bank, I tripped and bumped into a security guard. He thought I was assaulting him, so he pinned me to the floor and called for backup as he held me at gunpoint. FML
It's not what you think
Today, I took my 4 year-old son to the bank with me. He asked why we were going, and I explained that I had a couple of checks that they would turn into money. When we got in line, he loudly exclaimed, "Mommy has checks for money!" Except "checks" sounded almost exactly like "sex." FML
Gangsta
Today, I went to my local bank after getting an email from them concerning unknown purchases. Four hours later, I was still in police custody. Someone had been using my account to purchase guns and drugs. FML
Today, my 6-year-old son was so angry at me for not buying him overpriced candy at the airport that he told a security guard I had a machine gun in my suitcase. The interrogation was not pleasant. FML
Today, I got to see my son's dream of being on television come true. Unfortunately, it was because he'd been arrested for trying to rob a bank. FML
Today, while shopping, my six-year-old son threw a tantrum because I wouldn't buy him a video game. I ended up having to grab his arm and leave the store. He screamed that I was kidnapping him, at which point I was socked in the face and pinned to the floor by three bystanders. FML
Free money glitch
Today, I went to withdraw 200 dollars. At the ATM, I noticed a suspicious man standing really close to me. I was nervous about entering my pin number, and worried he was looking at my account information. In my panic, I got all the way home before realizing that I'd left the cash in the machine. FML
I can't deal with confrontation
Today, my son is so pathetic that when a tiny, unarmed 5-foot tall female thief robbed our store, he didn’t grab the baseball bat, he didn’t slam the anti-theft door on the counter closed, he didn’t even press the big alarm button, he just started crying, put his hands up, and let her empty the till. FML
Flustered
Today, at the bank, I went to get some coffee from their machine. I gave it my money and pressed the buttons but nothing was happening. After banging on the machine for ten minutes and calling a teller over, a little boy reached up on his tippy toes to press the giant green START button for me. FML

I can see a very good life coming from this kid. Maybe not a legal one, but a rich one none the less.

Why did you allow your son to bring a gun- even a fake- into a bank in the first place?

Coming from a bank teller we take every threat serious you should not have let your child go into a bank with any kind of weapon even if its fake so dont call the teller dim-witted that would be you YDI!

Yeah, if someone points a gun at me and it looks real, my life isn't worth assuming it's a toy just because the person holding it is a kid. I know from personal experience that an 8 year old is old enough to handle a gun, and I'm not going to risk my life on the gamble of "this is a kid playing" versus "this person is crazy enough that they are using their 8 year old son as an accomplice in an armed robbery".

I have kids of my own (both boys) and we have one simple rule while we're out running errands- all toys stay in the car when we go into stores and banks. I completely understand that kids are sneaky, but it's my job as a PARENT to set boundaries and enforce the rules. As a PARENT op admits that the toy gun is realistic looking and she wants to blame the dim-witted teller for doing their job? I don't care what anyone else says-ydi op. the teller sees a gun and does their job to keep everyone including you and your child safe in the event of an emergency (real or not) you only have yourself and your son to blame for this one- maybe you should start paying better attention to what your 8 year old is doing because my 3 year old would NEVER pull a stunt like that.

You sound a little high and mighty, there. No one, not you or Super Nanny can watch their kids every single second of everyday. All it takes is a second for a kid to decide to stuff a toy in their pocket. Your three-year-old is going to grow up one day, and pull all kinds of crap you apparently aren't expecting. It doesn't matter if kids are generally well-behaved; they're kids--they're going to decide something looks fun and do it/do something they saw in a movie/misbehave now and then. There's no kid in the world that has never misbehaved in their life. "PARENTS", no matter how good, aren't perfect, and neither are kids...because they're KIDS!

Probably cause he cant talk or does not know those words

Ok first of all- I'm not trying to be "high and mighty" I'm simply saying that as a parent op should at least have half a clue about what he child is doing. Kids will do dumb shit and they learn from their mistakes but there is a time and place for that. The bank is not one of them. Op shouldn't be insulting the teller who was simply doing their job and protecting everyone including her child in a potentially dangerous situation. I never said my kids were perfect and I know they will do all sorts of stupid things as they grow- but I know that they know what is appropriate and what is not.

Actually, my oldest has a pretty large vocabulary-he surprises me with some of the things that he says. He just has common sense.

He had to have been stupid to fall for that.

Why are a lot of people assuming that OP's a woman? They could very well be a father since the FML doesn't state whether they're a woman or a man.

Not really the bank tellers issue! You admitted it looked real, how was that teller to know? You're dimwitted for allowing your kid to take it in public!

After this moorning when a man busted into the theater and everyone there thought he was only playing around as a part of the movie. Then he shot 15 people dead....I can certinaly see how things like this are to not be played around with. Just saying
