Today, an officer ticketed me for texting while driving. Apparently, getting dumped costs $180. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Bad timing
Today, I got fired because I abruptly hung up on my boss while being pulled over for talking in a hands free zone. I also got a $300 fine. FML
Today, I was pissed that I got a £60 parking ticket so rang my friend to rant about it. I then got pulled over by the cops for using my phone, and was fined £120. FML
Today, I was pulled over by a cop and was fined $210 for making an illegal u-turn. When the cop finished writing my ticket and hopped in his car, he made the same u-turn. FML
Today, I was driving to work when a state trooper rammed into my car from behind, because he was on the cell phone and not paying attention. He gave me a ticket for "Failure to control speed to avoid a crash." FML
Today, I got a ticket for "suspicious driving" because my total shit of a mother kept tugging on the wheel to annoy me, and I still had to pay it. FML
Today, I rear ended a cop while talking on my cell phone. FML

Today, I was driving when I noticed that the guy in front was on the phone. I pulled up next to him, pulled out my phone and I made a gesture that he needed to put his phone away. It was a cop. I got a ticket for driving while on my cell phone. FML
Today, I received a parking fine for $147. My car isn't even worth that much. FML
Today, a policeman pulled me over and proceeded to flirt with me. After I had rejected him, he gave me a ticket for "not paying attention to the road". FML
Today, I was on the way to traffic court for a $340 speeding ticket I'd got. My mother called me and I wasn't paying attention which caused me to speed. Right past a cop. When I told the cop where I was going, he started laughing at me. I now have another $300 ticket. FML

just because it's a breakup text doesn't mean it's a freebie.

I mean, either way you shouldn't have been texting.

Texting while driving and being a reckless driver cost you $180. The amount of times people have swerved into my lane because their eyes are in their laps? Don't be stupid, pull over if its important.

You should have pulled over to read the text to realise you were dumped. The contents of the text doesn't matter as you obviously would have been texting anyway.

"Texting while driving"

Doesn't matter if they were stopped, it still counts as texting while driving. My friend's stupid girlfriend got nabbed for that exact thing.

You should not text and drive no matter what the situation is. You definitely deserve it.

YDI. You should not be texting and driving

Good. If it meant that much to you, call or pull over. Never endanger others because you feel like your texts are more important.

You DO know that texting and driving is still a no-go careless of being dumped, right? Honestly, sorry that you got dumped, OP, but SERIOUSLY! C'mon! Texting and driving is what causes handful of the accidents! You totally deserved getting that ticket!

Still not worth it to get a ticket. I'm sorry for what happened, but it's just safer to pull over next time and turn your car off so that you don't get into trouble for texting. Texting while driving is a serious issue that's to not be messed around with

With a reckless attitude like that, it's not difficult to see why you were dumped. You obviously have no concern for the wellbeing of others. Texting is just as dangerous as driving under the influence. If you really thought it was important, you should have pulled over to the side or into a rest stop. I really hope you don't expect any sympathy for receiving a ticket; in fact, you should be grateful. Speaking as someone who has lost friends because of a texting driver, I hope you take this situation as a lesson (and 2nd chance) and change your habits before you kill someone or yourself.
