Kinda sus behavior
Today, three weeks after my girlfriend told me she was pregnant, she admitted it was a lie. Turned out it was just a test to see if I'd break up with her or not. I didn't, but I did just break the bank buying all the things we'd need for an actual kid. FML

Good for you for making the right decision and sticking by your child. However she is a lying bitch and doesn't deserve a guy like you. Put that bitch on the curb and move on.

was everything non refundable? Seems easy enough to just bring it back.

So I think your GF was a messed up for making you think she was pregnant when she wasn't. I think you deserved the whole buying things for the baby part though. As a woman who is currently pregnant so many pregnancies end in miscarriage during the first trimester. Weeks 1-12. Now you're usually out of the woods week 12 and risk drops dramatically. You should have waited. Not only did you not know the gender but you can save yourself money by shopping during deal weekends and what not.

And if things were bought during a sale that wouldn't last?

Some people like to be prepared and buy things early and maybe he was just really excited. You don't have to know the gender of the baby there's SO many gender neutral things you can buy almost EVERYTHING without knowing it, plus there's supplies like diapers, bottles, car seats, high chairs, bouncy chairs, baby tubs, etc the list is endless. Most people don't think that they shouldn't buy things until a certain point just because it could end in miscarriage.

It's true that He rushed it, considering the risks of miscarriage but just how exactly is knowing the gender important to buy material though ?

Personally hubby and I waited because as cute as gender neutral stuff is it's much easier to shop once the sex of the baby is known. Though some ppl wait not everyone does for us it was more logical.

I understand that. But in all reality he did it to himself for not waiting. I'm 5 months pregnant and have 4 and a half months left and I haven't purchased anything. Not only did I have a friend lose a baby at 5 months and she was considered out of the woods but you also have to realize that 1 and 4 pregnancies maybe more end in miscarriage. Not to mention there is such thing as a chemical pregnancy. Like ppl down vote for honestly. She didn't say she was 6 months pregnant she was maybe "5-6 weeks" like I said I'm halfway through and haven't bought a thing. There are big ticket items I have to buy and small ticket items as well. He should have waited

I totally get where you're coming from I don't really think it's right to say he did it to himself though because it would have been completely different if she lost it and not have just lied about it.

Okay but i still don't see how it's more simple to shop depending on gender ?? Everything is gender neutral in my opinion, you don't have to be a girl to like butterflies and you don't need to have testicles to like cars ? when i was 3 years old my whole family was doing that and buying me barbie dolls, i didn't give a **** about dolls, what i wanted was the jacked up truck i'd seen in the boys aisle. But that was not for girls you see. So i'd never have it since my parents shopped based on my gender and not what i actually liked. Today, i still like trucks and now i drive them, which doesn't prevent me from being feminine, dressing nicely and having my nails done. You know, like a girl. My brother on the other hand, likes unicorns and most things people call "girly" yet he's still manlier than most guys i've known. So i really still don't see how gender is relevant when it comes to buying things for your child ?? Just buy what is needed and when your child knows how to express their feeling, buy whatever they like ?? Is it that hard ?

Strap on the cleats and punt her ass to the curb. She crossed the line with that stunt. As for you OP, you're a stand up guy and deserve a lot better.
Muskrat777 13
maybe she meant "chills".
Bearsmomma 30
That's so beyond ****** up. What if you HAD broken up with her? Would she (and all her friends) run around screaming what an ass you are. People would've had her back even though she would be just as much an ass!!!! I'm female, but women disgust me sometimes. (And yet, I love them too. Until they are an ex, of course...lol) Anyway, shes a bitch and should be sent packing! Mind games are no place for a relationship. It just ruins the love, and trust and sets the whole thing up for failure.

DNC's are performed after a miscarriage to ensure nothing is left behind in the uterus (because that can lead to SEVERE problems and even a possibility of death). So, I'd demand to see that hospital bracelet.
militarybrat 21
Not entirely true 45. I have had several friends pass a miscarriage on their own.
Bearsmomma 30
That true for some, I'm sure, but my doctor did a DNC for safety and health after ALL of my miscarriages. It's the smarter thing to do; if an issue arrives it could ruin fertility. In the situation mentioned, as a bf, I would convince my gf to have a sonogram at the least. You're not only proving the lie, but IF she was REALLY pregnant, she'd be taken care of.

Why would you buy everything so soon? I say YDI, at least that bit. No one deserves to be "played" with like that though. Hope you got rid of her.
Catdragon 40
I can understand the hassle of buying stuff, only to have to take it back. She shouldn't have done that. But it's good that you'd take responsibility for your child and wouldn't run away like some guys. You'll find someone who deserves you though!

return them back

you don't need a kid, you are already dating one

It's one thing to have a hypothetical discussion for her to know you're a good guy, but to actually lie and test you, that's awful. However you did jump the gun a bit purchasing things, especially if you broke the bank doing so. Had she been telling the truth, you had 9 months to buy things here and there without breaking the bank.
False_Stupidity 42
Sad thing is that people lie with these hypothetical discussions and tell you what you want to hear, so I can kind of see why she chose that path, however it was still a bitch move that has destroyed all trust.
DragonSlayer1234 8
What she did was absolutely right. I mean if she was ACTUALLY pregnant and u left her what would she do then? It was wrong of her tho to not tell u that she was testing u before u bought all that stuff.
tarlax 11
If you're gonna troll, at least try to be subtle about it.
xoteeshaox 22
No she wasn't. If she was really worried, talking about the situation is a lot better, and talking hypothetically
anonymoususer070 17
How was she right? Like what was said before me she could have talked to him about it. There's absolutely no trust there anymore. That's not a joke, I know it's not completely related but people try every day to get pregnant and can't or have lost it, it's not a haha situation at all. He had every right to dump her now and have major trust issues in future relationships. It was wrong that she didn't tell him she was testing him before he bought the stuff? It was COMPLETELY wrong in the first place.
