Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Today, I found out that my wife has been having an affair with the guy who's been trying to get our relationship back on track. FML
Today, my wife said she wants a divorce. Three days ago, I added her onto the title to my house, my bank accounts, and my business. FML
Today, my wife announced that she wanted a divorce. She'd actually started dating another man a few months ago, but she wanted to drag our marriage out as long as possible just in case her new relationship fell through. FML
Today, I was told by my wife of 19 years that all the songs about cheating that she's been playing for a year and a half should have been a good enough hint. Getting a divorce. FML
Today, my wife asked for a divorce. Apparently, me being forced to work on her birthday and our anniversary 3 years in a row is the absolute limit she’s willing to put up with. FML
Today, my wife told me she wanted a divorce and walked out. This is two days after she informed me that she is unexpectedly pregnant. FML
Today, my my soon to be ex-wife found out I was telling the truth and never cheated. She wanted to get back together but I told her that we're too far into the divorce proceedings to turn back, and there's just no fixing our marriage. She then told me she's filing for full custody with no visitation rights. FML
Today, I broke it off with my mistress so that I could work on my marriage. Shortly after, my wife received an anonymous message, saying that I'd been unfaithful. FML
Today, my wife informed me that she wants a boyfriend but doesn't want a divorce. Also, apparently I'm horrible for not "respecting her feelings" when I told her she can't have both. FML

Ouch. Well, she's obviously not committed and you're much better off without her.

You're in a tough situation, but it's time to man up. Your wife has probably already hired the most vile divorce attorney she could find, and has probably already slept with him. She will petition to force you to pay her attorney fees and they (her and the attorney) will go after everything you own (not just half... that's too old fashioned). You MUST find yourself a female divorce attorney, because only a female attorney will be able to develop the pure primal hatred toward another female (your wife) that will allow you to stand a chance in this fight. In the end, you will be victorious in the same way a country is victorious in a long war: you'll lose a lot, take a lot of damage, but you'll be better off in the long run. DO NOT hire a male attorney... your wife will probably sleep with him too, and then they'll all conspire against you.

it's not that easy to forgive especially with that kind of mistake, you deserve a lot better.

I'm actually going to try to defend the OP's wife here. I realize it was wrong of her to cheat, but since the OP chose to stay with her, he needs to try to forgive her. Who would want to be with someone who held that over their head for a long time and refused to forgive them. After a while of being treated like the devil by your husband, it's understandable that she would want to leave the relationship (I'm assuming that the OP actually still held a grudge after a very long time, since he never says otherwise) however I am NOT saying YDI to the OP here

she sounds like a stuck-up retard. stay with her just to spite her. however, i do think #188 has a good point.....

When did she cheat on you?

Well, look. she had an affair. It's already a done deal. Realistically you either want to make it work, forgive her and move on, or don't forgive her and end the relationship. Those are your choices. It sucks, yes, but that's what needs to be done. Don't dawdle and cry about it.

Yeah... YDI. First, YDI for staying with her, and second, YDI for staying with her. Did I mention YOU DESERVE IT for having stayed with her? I feel like I should point something out, but the three letters are eluding me. In any event, you win the award for YDI because you *stayed* with a woman who clearly didn't respect the boundaries of your relationship, and now wants to end it because you haven't forgiven her trespass. ...I'll grant a FYL as per your taste in women, but that's as far as it goes.

well how long has it been since she cheated? id say ydi for not forgiving her. i know its hard and i know it would take some time, but shes ure wife. if you love her u should forgive her. however, if it happened again after u forgave her, then maybe divorce should b considered

No, you're taking too long to file for divorce. She cheated, she wants out, but she's a woman so she has to make you do it to feel good about herself. It's too ******* complicated to explain properly, so I'm just going to tell you to run the **** away and never look back.
