Today, while I was on a field trip with my son, my husband decided to get rid of our dog without asking anyone. Now I get to pick up the pieces of a broken heart, and he thinks he did nothing wrong. FML

Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, my boyfriend broke up with me. He let me know by shaving "CYA" into my dog's fur and then moving out before I got home from work. FML
Today, my fiancé and I broke up, and he won't answer my calls or texts. I don't want him back; he has my dog. FML
Mr Empathy
Today, over the past 48 hours, my husband has ignored a dog with a broken leg, because, “It’s not our dog, so it’s not our problem,” and also ignored a young lost boy crying for his mother in Asda, because, “He’s not our son, so who cares?” I think I want a divorce. FML
Loser
Today, the dog my now ex-boyfriend and I own together bit me bad enough that I needed stitches on my face and my hand... he then broke up with me and saying it was all too much for him and has kept the dog... FML
Today, I was outside searching for "treasures" with my son using small plastic shovels. All of a sudden he starts screaming. He dug up the bones of our old dog. I told him that we had sent him away to live on a farm, I even helped my son write letters to the farm owners. FML
The old switcheroo
Today, my husband and I were are fighting for custody of MY two dogs. Then I found out in court that a year into our marriage, he ran one of them over with his car and then had to get a new matching one, and didn’t tell me. He said, “I paid for it so I should keep it.” FML
Man's best friend
Today, my estranged husband told me he’s sad that he lost the dog. He didn’t mention anything about losing me, his wife. FML
Don't tempt me
Today, I made the mistake of telling my boyfriend I was taking my kids to my mother's until he has decided if he wants to carry on being a boyfriend and stepfather. While we were gone, he apparently realised how good his life could be without us, and dumped me. I fucked up. FML
Today, I bought a dog to make me feel less lonely. He ran away. FML
Bad boy
Today, my husband left our untrained puppy out of its kennel when he left for work. I got home and all of the baby books my parents just bought for us that were on the coffee table in a backpack were completely destroyed, along with the bag, and parts of our wall. FML

Your husband is a piece of trash. Get rid of him.

Yes... lose your dog AND your husband in rapid succession, then see how your son copes with it. Sure it was a dick move, but is it really worth breaking up a family over? Come on #63, get your head out of your ass.

#70: many comments say, leave your husband. I agree what the husband did was extremely wrong, but you're right. the child does not deserve to lose two loved ones. one will be hard enough. don't ask the child to deal with two losses. I love that you brought this point up. thank you for having common sense. :)

A parent who would be so cruel to their child is a toxic person to have around. I doubt this is the only cruel action from him. If the dog is at the pound, or even given to somebody, she may be able up hey him back. And get rid of the abusive husband.

Bet there are some major other marital problems going on. Normal people do not get rid of something their child cherishes, even if they don't get the "dog" thing. And they sure as hell don't do it w/out talking it over with the spouse. No kid needs to deal with that sort of continued nastiness in their life. I hope this was a one-time event. If not, it ought to be the nail in the coffin.

#70 I don't think the son will want to be with his dad, at least not right now, considering he got rid of his dog and left him broken-hearted. He's probably very angry at his dad right now and may never be able to fully forgive him. I not saying OP should necessarily divorce her husband for this one incident but if the family dynamic is unhealthy in other ways then she should get herself and her son out of there. It's not like the son will never see his father again either, it might be better if he only visited his dad occasionally considering what he did, especially if he does things like this that show a blatant disregard for the son's feelings.

Wow, you're husband is a class A dick.

The most concerning fact of this is that he can still believe he did nothing wrong. That is in my mind the difference between a cruel mistake and a complete sociopath with no regard for anyone's feelings.
