Today, I came home to find that my mother had cleaned my room, and she'd done a very good job, too. So good in fact, that she even managed to remove all of the furniture, replacing it with a note that said, "It's time to go, sweetie XO". FML

Generally the main role of a house keeper is to do specific jobs: dusting, moping , vacuuming, bathrooms, etc. they aren't there to pIck up after their employers. So "cleaning up" before they come is more clearing out your crap so they can do their job more efficiently and not waste time.
