Today, my daughter turned 18. She decided to use this day to tell me everywhere her and her boyfriends have had sex in my house to get revenge for being overprotective. FML

Today, after I grounded my barely 18 year-old daughter for having sex with her boyfriend when I found a pack of condoms in her room while cleaning it, she responded by moving out and eloping with him. FML
Today, I learned that when my daughter spent the night at her best friend's house for her 18th birthday, they made her an account on one of those "cam girl" websites, and now every time she goes over there, she masturbates for money in front of strangers. FML
Today, my son turned 18. He now calls me by my first name instead of "dad" and refuses to stop. FML
Today, I caught my 20 year old daughter having sex with my best friend's husband. Apparently it's my fault for coming home early. FML
Today, it's my daughter’s 18th birthday. Today is also the day that my husband told me he’s leaving me for her, and he wants a divorce. When I threatened to press charges for potentially grooming her as a minor, he told me I don’t have a leg to stand on because, “She’s been at the age of consent anyway.” FML
Today, my daughter turned up at my house because her boyfriend kicked her out. I rang him and it turns out his love and affection and even the time he spent getting to know her kids wasn’t enough for her, my daughter just had to throw it all away by sucking her coworker's dick in her boyfriend's bed. FML
Today, I learned that my 18-year-old son has had more sexual partners together at one time than I've had separately in total in my life. FML
Today, as revenge for not buying her a new iPhone, my twelve-year-old daughter told her father that my boyfriend, who just moved in with us, is on the sex offender list. My ex turned my boyfriend into the cops and his parole could be revoked. FML
Today, I found out my mom can't wait until I turn 18, so she can kick me out and turn my room into a huge closet for all her clothes. FML
Today, I turned 18. My dad congratulated me and gifted me his collection of old porn magazines. Not bad, dad, but perhaps not during family dinner next time. FML

a rude awakening for what? a rude awakening for actually CARING about you? my parents are overprotective too but it's for my own good. at least they care enough to protect you. some parents don't care about their kids at all..

The more you try to oppress and have "total control" of your child, the more likely they'll rebel. If she is a good kid, good grades, responsible and not a trouble maker, she deserves to not be treated by the 'helicopter parenting style.' It doesn't work and it harms the kid in the long run.

My dad was over protective, over bearing, My curfew was 8pm ALL thru high school! For each minute I was late coming home from curfew I was grounded for a month. Inwas always grounded, not allowed out of view of my house. Which meant I had hardly any friends cause I was barely allowed out. Home was a ******* prison. I rebeled big time once I moved out as soon as I turned 18. Drank, smoked weed, sex, partying all night....etc I may have done those things anyways if my dad wasnt such an ass but not nearly as much as I did, due to his iron hand house rules.

Oooh I agree 100%. my curfew was 10pm all from middle school until 20 years old. I moved out at 20. But I used to skip school,high school, all the time to do things I wanted and couldn't do when they were home. Not saying things I did were good choices or the way I went about them but overprotecting your kids is a BAD idea. I know you care and do it out of love but hey we were just a bunch of teens with raging hormones. The more you shelter us the more curious we get :P

I became virtually independent in my early teen years, and luckily I had a level head on my shoulders and stayed out of trouble. I had a hard time in school but that's a different story. I can't even say my parents were overprotective, they just blamed me for everything that went wrong in my life up 'till that point. Plus they were afraid of me, I was a big boy for my age.

to EVERYONE who thought OP deserved it....GFY! Underage sex is a crime...can you say statutory rape??? only consenting adults (18+ yrs old) are able to have sex LEGALLY! To OP...you now have the right to not only kick out your ingrate of a daughter, you MAY also have legal right to press rape charges on ALL her boyfriends & for criminal trespassing (since you didn't invite them into your home while you weren't there! It'll be a GIFT, that keeps giving, since the boyfriends will have to register themselves as "SEX OFFENDERS"....whoo hoo! happy b-day to her, huh? :)

For one, two minors can have sex if they're both consenting, as well as anyone 17+ since in most states 17 is the legal age of consent. There is still no law against two minors having sex though...(16/15 year olds etc) Also, you can't press any rape charges on the guys unless they were 18 and she was under 17, and the trespassing thing...who said the mother didn't let them stay over just not in the same room?

I was under the impression the age of consent was 16 in most states, but regardless, it is 18 in California, although there is an age difference clause of 3 years.

This came from Califorinia and as at least 3 ppl have stated its not a crime there unless her bfs were more then 3 years older then her plus OP has 0 proof of any of this exept what his daughter has told him which is pretty much the definition of hearsay and there for inadmissible in court. Also theres the statute of limitions to think about.
